I'm with Farmers full coverage for my truck is $523 every 6 months.
DMVs are both clean. I'm also sell insurance so the idea that a captive
agent is jacking peoples rates is crazy. The agents for State Farm and
other captives are not chargeing you a brokers Fee so the company is
getting the premium not the agent. If you have an issue with your
premium call your agent and ask if you are getting all the discounts
aval.-they do change and your agent may be able to get underwriting to
approve something for you that is out of the norm. Keep in mind that
you need to have an agent/broker to help you get to an underwriter to
plead your case. Agents/brokers need customers so rubbing them raw
serves no purpose. Call and ask, they should try to help you if at all
possible. I am sorry that some of you are having trouble. I hope your
agents/brokers can take the time to give you a review to see what they
can do to help you.

I've got USAA, $385 for 6mo. I'm in TN though, where everything is cheaper than CA.

Keep in mind the factors and remember your agent has no reason to lose
you over "hiding" a credit. I some cases the company rasies or lowers
rates them selves and agents are not told everyhouse they insure is
effected on a certain date. Still call if you have time and see what
else you might be missing or can get. Some companies offer bigger
discounts if they have all of your policies. Yes, everything is more
expensive in Ca.

I pay about $100 per month for my crew cab 4x4 and a Buick LeSabre with Allstate, in Tennessee. Never a claim until a couple of years ago when my daughter was in an expensive wreck, which affected my costs somewhat. I also have homeowners with Allstate and though I might be able to get a little cheaper somewhere else I really like my agent and the two claims I've had with them (one vehicle, one home) have been handled very quickly and professionally, so I stick with them.
Insurance is one of those necessary evils that you always think you're paying too much for but are really glad you've got your coverage when you need it.

Thanks all for the information,
It just strikes me odd that this trucks costs more in insurance for me than 15 years ago when i finances a crotch rocket, had tickets and a few crashes under my belt, was in my twenties and was single to boot!
Something just doesnt add up, maybe its the fact that my bikes never cost me 30k either!
