So far I tried the Daystar kit......I think the daystar kit cost me 180 and the labor to put them in I figure around 300 (I installed it myself). Then heard clunking noises coming from stock rancho shocks. Found out the Daystar kit blew out my struts. I liked the look of the truck level, so I did a search on the web and found this forum site (www.titantalk.com) and this one. PrerunnerGreg who is listed above designed the spacers he made to work in our trucks so I purchased them. I then installed them to find out that the Daystar kit blew out my struts. Ordered new struts at 89 bucks a piece! Installed PrerunnerGregs spacer kit (PRG) with new struts got truck aligned and no problems......Going on 4 months now. Very pleased! So for me it was worth the 200 dollars for the PRG kit! Hope know one made the same mistake I made.

As pr stated above, my kits sell for $199 to your door. They take about 1/2 the time to install as the "coil-insert" type spacers, but the quality is far better than the urethane kits (keep in mind you get what you pay for, the urethne spacers cost about 25 cents to make, cheaper than the box they come in). But also, these leveling kits, as well as mine, are NOT a performance upgrade, they are cosmetic. A good set of 2" diameter shocks should cost around $185 each, a good 2.5" shock (with springs and mounts) will run around $1000 for the set. A real race 3" shock with coils and hardware will set you back about $2200 a set. Now you are into real performance. A rancho 5000 would be a 1.375 sized piston. As it sits now, there really isnt too much room in the stock position to mount a longer shock to get more travel, unless you start moving things around, maximizing the shock in the stock location is the beest bet for performance. The lift kits using drop brackets for the lower a-arms, can possibly get a bit more travel than stock (and aftermarket coil-overs are pretty easy to get at that length) but the next step is custom upper and lower a-arms. Im building a kit for my truck right now that should up the travel from 7-8 to around 11 inches, using the stock upper shock mount and, with longer axles, can be 4wd. But the leveling kits are just that, a leveling kit, some just work better than others.

Nice work Greg can't wait to see pictures of this lift? Do you have any pic? Do you have an estimated cost on the new lift? Are you making axles????What do you mean can be 4x4?? Interested to hear more since I'm happy with your level kit.

Most of the lifts currently available dont allow an increase in suspension travel, they just relocate the majority of the suspension and drivetrain lower. The kit im working on will be about 2-2.5" wider than stock and will use a modified stock spindal upright and new upper and lower a-arms, as well as a 2.5" coil-over and tie rod extensions. My truck is a 2x but a 4x version could easily be made using longer axles. It will be a 100% bolt-on kit and will improve ground clearance. The ride height will increase by only a few inches, around 4. but performance will be worlds better. Im not sure on a price yet, but the fact that the kit keeps the stock upright will keep cost resonalble. I will start building everything next week, my truck should be done in a couple weeks, i will post pics as i go to show how it all goes together and compare the new components to stock.

Cool deal! Can't wait to see this! What do you think about the new rancho lift? I think this is the only kit that will actually perform better then the rest of the lifts out, only because it's four inches and not putting stress on suspension components and driveshaft angles. Do you know if this kit is also just for cosmetic or will it increase travel?

It really looks as most of the kits are the same, just different amounts of drop-down from the brackets and a corresponding taller spindal. CST uses a fabricated upright, which is really nice, everyone else uses a new cast upright. I doubt any of them will break. CST uses a different upper arm, that is nice, but im not sure if its really necessary, since they still use the factory strut assembly. They all use the stock lower arm, and that, so far, is the only factor that would change the ride quality (by moving the shock mount either in or out). If the kits use a shock that has more travel, then they could, possible, get more travel at the wheel. I havent looked that closely at the kit to determine if that is the case. Procomp and Fabtech are making thier own coil-overs now, but still using the stock lower arm. The shock will certainly be an improvement, but without much more travel.

I guess this is why you are extending the front axle shafts? Since you are planning to use a new upper a-arm, are you also planning a lower a-arm also? Then you could use a longer travel shock correct?

If you are looking to level your truck, there is no substitute for the PRG kit. Even if you are only looking to improve yoru factory ride quality, PRG can hook you up with anywhere from a 1.5" - 2.5" kit that will improve the ride/handling of the front end suspension.
And PRG is the most customer service oriented person I think I have ever met. When you buy one of his kits, you will be amazed at how friendly and helpful he is about every detail.

I have the kit from nitrousenterprises. It is a little higher than PRGs with block that go on the rear. I like PRGs kit but wanted to get the back up. Now, both have the kit with the rear blocks to give it back a little extra height too. I would look in these, stay away from the Daystar type. They will kill the front shocks.
