theres an option on the audio Knob, the one where you adjust your treb/bass/etc. theres an option called SSV you can turn that Off/low/mid/High. i think that might be your probs

Yes, That option increases the volume as the truck speeds up and slows down. its supposed to compensate for road noise by automatically turning up the volume when the truck is moving faster.

The issue that I am having is not the volume going up and down, its more like someone is turning off the treble like when you go from Mono to Stereo. I am sure it has something to do with the FM reception even though the St light is on I don’t believe its really locked in. Plus it better on some stations then others.

Either way I think it kinda sucks, as you can not replace that system very easily. plus I really like the 6cd changer in the dash, it would be hard to give that up. :-)

What exactly is the SSV function?  I see that when it is set on high, it noticeably compensates the sound based on speed.   There is no mention of it in the manual.

I've got the same problem with the radio.

SSV stands for Speed-Sensitive-Volume. The volume changes as speed increases, depending on the SSV setting Low-Mid-High or Off.

Complained to dealer and so far no Fix on Nissan Bulletin yet to deal with this "Cheap radio" reception issue.

Thank ged!  I hope so!!

For a "premium" sound system, the radio portion is plain junk IMHO.  And it's not like FM tuners are rocket science.

Readthefreakingmanual.com - I have never seen so many stupid posts for such a simple feature.

I am a Sales and Installation Manager for a major electronics store and have never heard such poor reception from any factory or aftermarket radio.  It has a mast antenna and the truck is only a moth old.  What is the problem.  An antenna is so simple, the only thing keeping it from working is it not being plugged in.  I traced the entire cable from mast to the back of the stereo; everything is fine.  I also noticed that the fading problem occurs when RDS is available and still receiving stereo reception.  The problem is the tuner in the radio itself.  I have an appointment Monday for the dealer to take a look.  I love everything about the truck, even the look and features of the stock stereo.  A couple of amplifiers, new speakers and a sub will solve the sound quality issue; only if I can actually receive the station I am trying to hear.  My custom enclosure is built, amps and speakers are sitting in boxes waiting to go in.  I won't install them until Nissan fixes the reception problem though; don't want them to have something else to try and blame the problem on.

I will let you know what happens with my visit to the dealer.

I have read in this thread that Nissan developed this system with Clarion?  I just read the TSB, and it says order a new head unit from Panasonic... anyone which it is?

Thanks for the great link bigmd10!
