My truck was manufactured in June of 04, how do I know if it needs the new radio or not. I read the TSB and the Vin numbers but not sure my vin has a B in it and not and A.

Thanks

It won't matter much if you truck has the right VIN the tech will have to "verify" the problem exsists or they will do nothing. You will know if you have the radio issue. It will sound fine then all of a sudden all the treble falls out and it sounds like mud. Mine is getting worst, now the volume seems to be cut in half but I get a new one on Friday.

FYI...the dealer ordered me a new deck, so anyone with the same problem on the Rockford Fosgate systems the service bulletin does apply.

Anyone with an exchanged radio experiencing any other problems?  There are rumors the new exchanged radios are not better quality, and the reception on the radio is possibly worse.  I'm still waiting for my new deck...does anyone have any input on this issue?

just to let you know my truck was built in August of 2004 and it has the radio fade problems in FM. I know the TSB is for pre June 2004, but I am going to try to get them to replace my headunit anyway. I will let you all know what happens.

I took my truck in for secheduled maintenance and mentioned there was an intermittant treble loss problem. (As described in the TSB) Within an hour and a half they had the lube/oil/filter service done and verified my radio qualifies for the replacement. It's on order right now. I must say my dealer has done a great job of making sure all of my worries are relieved.

Hi,

I am on my second replacement radio and I still have the fade issue. Granted its not as bad but it is still deffinetly there. I have thrown in the towel on the radio issue. The whole radio replacement had turned into a giant mess, long story short the fall-out from having the radio replaced ended up with the dealer having to replace my whole dash board ( yes you heard right ) because one of the techs hacked it up while trying to replace the radio..

Good luck

I think it is easy to tell if you have the treble fade problem.  Just tune to FM, turn the treble all the way up and drive around.  Mine always faded in 2 specific areas of my daily commute, no matter what station, and I noticed it when I drove it home on that first night.  I took it back to the dealer the next day (in April) and the dealer thought it was the NAV system interfering.  Of course, there was no service bulletin at that time.

Thanks to this forum I will try to get a replacement.  I do have the Rockford Fosgate.

Finally had mine replaced after they special ordered the deck.  Seems to be working fine now, and no problems with the dealer removal/install.

UPDATE:

Had mine replaced. It works a lot better. I had no problem with the installation. So far my dealer has taken real good care of me. They have called me twice since the replacement to ask how everything is going. I wonder if they know that some radio replacements still don't work?
Anyways, I'm happy!
