I'm pretty much XM ignorant.  I have the popular package with the 6 disk changer and a SAT button on the radio.  Can I hook up XM with just an antena and signing up for the service?  Or what all do I need?  I'd like to use the stock stereo as the controller, since it looks like the controls are built in for it.

Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming you do not already have the factory XM radio. If you do, then you need to sign up for service. Since you don't, you have 2 options as far as I know. You can get an XM (or Sirius for that matter) FM modulator/reciever and antenna. You can have it installed and either use the FM modulator or plug it directly into the AUX input on front of the factory radio. If you choose the FM modulator you will have to tune your radio to a specific channel and listen to the satelite broadcast there...or you can do like I did and use the AUX input so you dont have to worry about changing the station if a radio broadcast bleeds thru when youre traveling....keep on trucking

I believe my Roady came with a two-way plug which i use with the aux input.  If not you can get one at any Radio Shack or even Walmart.

I too purchased the SE Rockford Fosgate Package, and the stock radio includes a SAT button. What do I need to do to receive Sirius? Is Sirius available, or only XM? Do I just sign up for Sirius service? Or do I need to install additional equipment?

Thanks

I have the XM system and I'd be DANG if mine is not exactly like Max's. Nice job man great minds think alike .

I'd like to see some pics of a Sirus system installed in a Titan. I considered the Sirus but didn't know where I'd put the unit.

I have the Rockford Fosgate stereo and opted for Nissan to add the XM to it. No RF modulation, no tapping into the Aux. Other than the antenna on the rear window, I don't see any other signs that I have it. I just push the SAT button and that's it.

I do believe you can choose between Sirus and XM. So to answer your question...you need the receiver (XM or Sirus) the bracket, the antenna and something called extender. You stereo is all set up for it. Once it's installed you just sign up with XM or Sirius and your pretty much set.

Although you can choose between Sirius and XM for almost all other Nissan vehicles, you cannot choose Sirius for the Titan.  The reason is that Sirius does not make a pass-through-glass antenna, and since XM does, Nissan opted to only offer XM.  This bothered me, so I ordered the Sirius receiver for the Armada and installed it in my Titan and bought a few other items from Crutchfield to make it work, including a new antenna that I put out onto the roof through the center brake light.  Everything works fine :-)

Nice thread so far but I still have some questions…

I want to eventually get Sirius but I also will want to get an IPOD which will be used on the AUX input so using the AUX for satellite is not an option.

Is it that hard to use the SAT input for aftermarket units?

Dose the factory satellite use the tuner to change channels or is their another unit you have to mount on the dash?

Thx in advanced.
