Well the way my Sirius receiver is installed you could just unplug the cable and plug in the Ipod..as easy as it gets...see my post above. The cable is run down thru the dash and back out right below the Aux input, that way only about 3 inches of the cable shows.

I guess that would work but it just doesn’t seem right that I have this "SAT" button on my radio and can’t use it!
I was looking at nissanusa.com and it says that satellite radio is not available unless pre-wired? So dose that mean I’m out of luck of ever installing factory satellite radio because it wasn’t originally equipped?
Also dose the factory satellite let u change stations form the steering wheel?

You can do all that if you get the Sirius receiver for your stereo like I did. I'm pretty sure all Titan's are pre-wired for satellite - at least if they have the Rockford Fosgate stereo.
If that is what you want to do, then I can give you directions on how to do it. I installed mine myself since I had to order a Sirius receiver meant for an Armada to do it. The receiver, by the way, goes under the dash, nestled with the amplifier just above the accelerator. It doesn't require anything else to be mounted to the dash.

I don't have the Fosgate but rather the 6 disk version, but I pretty sure it's satellite ready, It's got the button. Do you have a link for the factory Sirius receiver? I would also love to see what it and factory antenna looks like. I imagine it’s just a silver box if it’s hidden under the dash, am I right?
Still looking for answers to these questions…
Can u change stations form the steering wheel with the factory satellite?
Dose the factory radio show song titles and stuff on the display or is there an additional display on factory satellite?

As I stated in an earlier post, my dealer only had XM and I wanted Sirius because I already had a subscription. I chose my components and install method because it was the simplest way to add Sirius satellite w/o having to use a FM modulator. I'm sorry I cant answer all of your questions, but you can definitely still add satellite. Its true I have a SAT button that doesn't do anything, but that would have been the case even if I hadn't added Sirius. Can your dealership add XM to your truck and have it work like a factory install? My guess is yes, but my question is; If it's that important to you that your SAT button function, why didn't you just buy a truck with XM to begin with? Not trying to be argumentative. I just don't see the big deal about the SAT button. Now if the factory XM install allows you to change the satellite stations from the steering wheel controls, I'm sure we both would agree that would be cool, cuz reaching up to the dash where my receiver is mounted is a bit aggravating at times....GL with your stereo...keep on truckin

The reason I didn’t get the factory satellite was because I just saw the truck on the lot and just had to have it.
King cab Galaxy black 4x4 SE (heavy duty bush guard)
6 disk, DVC, tow package, power everything.
I think the only thing the truck doesn’t have is nav system, DVD and of course satellite.
I will probable get an IPOD 1st and then the satellite, so I’m just trying to get more knowledgeable on my satellite options. The thought of another monthly fee bothers me but eventually I’ll get over it.

yes, it's just a silver box that you install under the dash. It is activated by the SAT button, and as a result, channels are changable by the steering wheel controls just as they are in FM/AM. I purchased the separate antenna but had to send it back and buy my own because the factory one... well let's just say that Nissan didn't intend for us to use Sirius in our trucks, so they didn't pre-wire it for their antenna. It doesn't matter though, their antenna was the old, big and clunky kind. I bought a mini antenna and a splitter from Crutchfield.com that did the trick and it ended up looking better anyway. Of the entire kit I purchased from Nissan (the receiver, wires, and antenna), I only kept the receiver. Oh, the radio screen also shows the title and artist of the song currently playing, and it's the same screen as is on all the radios.

I too purchased the SE Rockford Fosgate Package, and the stock radio includes a SAT button. What do I need to do to receive Sirius? Is Sirius available, or only XM? Do I just sign up for Sirius service? Or do I need to install additional equipment?
Thanks

I have the Rockford Fosgate stereo and opted for Nissan to add the XM to it. No RF modulation, no tapping into the Aux. Other than the antenna on the rear window, I don't see any other signs that I have it. I just push the SAT button and that's it.
I do believe you can choose between Sirus and XM. So to answer your question...you need the receiver (XM or Sirus) the bracket, the antenna and something called extender. You stereo is all set up for it. Once it's installed you just sign up with XM or Sirius and your pretty much set. |
