I got this Also at my dealer in CT, however now that I am in FL, I don't think it is transferable, those are dealer incentives. I have an appointment today for a oil change I will ask.

Jake

I switched to Castrol Syntec at 11,820. I hope that i waited long enough for everthing to seat  .  I paid 40$ to do it my self and the dealer charges 37 to change with regular oil,  I think I made out.

Well I changed my oil this past weekend. I have used regular Castrol almost exclusively for 20 years. But for the first time, I decided to use a full synthetic oil (Castrol Syntec). I have been changing the oil in my Titan every 3000-3750 miles, and now have 23K+ miles on my truck. I had contemplated trying a synthetic for many years, but its higher cost always kept me from trying. But now the price difference between Castrol's conventional GTX ($1.97 per qt) and their full synthetic Syntec ($19.97 per 5 qt) is not as much as I remembered. ...2 questions Can I safely stretch my oil changes to every 5000 miles using Syntec? ...and Is it OK to mix synthetic and conventional oil of the same weight? IE Castrol GTX 5W30 and Syntec 5W30 .

I have been using synthetic oil for several years now and I have been really satisfied with it.I change mine every 5000 miles and even with this many miles it's still brown when I drain it compared to black like conventional.

As far as mixing the oil, you can mix it but I would do it only as a last resort ;ie. needing to top off the oil and synthetic is not available. Convetional oil is a petrolium based oil meaning it starts it's life as crude oil that is full of acids and other contaminants. While most of these unwanted particals are removed in the refining process, some still remain and this causes conventional oil to break down quiker than synthetic oil. So if you add conventional oil into synthetic your adding all this stuff back into your engine that you got rid of by going to synthetic.

Bottom line, if you plan on changing oil every 3000 miles a good convetional oil will do just fine but if you want an extended oil change synthetic is the way to go.

Hmmm my oil changes are free for a life time.... didnt anyone else get that deal ?

Me too, my local dealer gives all customers standard what they call Platinum package that includes coupons as well. One draw back is that you have to use their std oil.
