OK heres my 2 cents worth. I have to agree, I think the mpg ratings were stretched to say the least, but I expect that for all makes and models...those tests are prolly performed on a track and doesnt have much relation to real world driving conditions. I too was hoping to get the 14/19 mpg on the sticker but so far I have been very easy with the gas pedal and I have only gotten 13.5 city / 16 hwy. I hope that adding a K&N air filter and a bed cover will help that atleast a small bit.

27mpg !?! ...hook me up with some of that gas...lol

Happy to say that now at 3345 miles, I am getting "acceptable " gas mileage. as most of you know , I added the Banks exhaust plus K & N drop in filter.

I Changed my oil and filter at 976 miles then again at 3000. I went to 10w30 oil since I live in S. Fla. and deal with HEAT and not COLD.

Tire pressure is at 35lbs, with the off road / big tow package. previously at 32lbs..

On the road for 500 miles I got 17.01 mpg.( and I hammered it most of the time)

After that trip, I started putting 89 octane gas in , and now have averaged, 16 + mpg twice for local driving.

Between add=ing a different octane rating and oil change and the so called break in period , this may be the difference.

On the highway I get between 17-19 MPG.  I got the 19 on a trip from Kentucky back to Atlanta, using mostly the cruise control and cruising at about 80 MPH.  Without cruise I get closer to 17.

Now in the city I seem to average between 12-14 MPG depending on how I drive the truck.  I tend to dip into the power often since I'm used to the power of my car.

2 more tank fulls...16.6, all road miles ....16.3, 90% road miles

Just got my K&N drop-in filter today, will install it tonight...Also gonna build a tonneau cover this weekend. Hopefully those 2 mods will help the mpg a bit.

15-16 Highway.

10-11 while towing a 3000 lb trailer at 75mph.

Dropping in a K&N air filter, so we'll see if there's a difference.

I don't do much highway driving.

I usually get between 15 and 16 around town.

Here's the secret. When I accelerate I don't let the RPM's get over 2000.

Yup, I'm a grand-pa and I'm only 27!

Well Im at 3200 miles, with one oil change under my belt. Just went thru another tank full (city miles) and it was 13.5 mpg. Looks like my city avg is gonna be 13.5 and Hwy is 16.5. I try to limit the RPMs aswell, but every once in awhile its fun to "get'er done!"...lol...keep on truckin.

I'm over 10K miles on mine. I average arond 14mpg. I guess I just love that pedal too much!
Sounds like most people like the Banks over the Flowmaster exhaust. Does anyone have sound clips of either they can e-mail me.

Thanks!

I just noticed the message about the 400 miles on one tank.

I usually get around 375-380 miles to one tank driving around town and I usually fill-up at around 23 gallons. Which means I have another 5 gallons to go. I've tried to wait till 400, but I start getting a little nervous when that needle gets to the last line.

I'm still waiting on my first road-trip.

I installed both the Banks Monster Exhaust and Volant air intake system in hopes of even a little mileage improvement... NADA! Exact same (hwy) mileage as stock: 16.5 to 16.8.

It does however move out a little better  ... but is is loud when you stomp on it - see my "review".

I do plan to go to all synthetic oils after my second oil change... except for the transmission fluid. I did this in my old '97 Nissan HardBody PU (still have it!) and I gained about 2mpg. That was changing engine oil, transmission, differentials... everything to synthetic oil (Amsoil brand).

HEY!... whats with the top secret "Nissan Only" AT fluid anyway??!! Geeze, I can imagine what it will cost to have them change the ATF at the dealer!
