No help from Banks!!  They say that sometimes these things happen.  I am trying some disc inserts that you can check out at carchemistry.com.  They make inserts for headers but when I spoke with them we concluded that there was a good chance it will solve the droning problem.  I'll post when I'm done.

The exhaust inserts fron CCI helped a bunch on the drone and left much of the nice deep note.  I used a three disk system but because of the flange at the end of the tailpipe where I installed it I needed to order a 4" two disk insert with a loose 3" disc that I placed on the tube myself. Best of all I was able to keep the nice polished Banks tip.  I am happy with the result and in fact if I were Banks, I would make this an option on the system and factory install tham.

I have the same problem with my Magnaflow the drone at 1800-2000 RPM is almost unbearable. Do you have any info or photos on how the disk install. I, like you want to keep the tip that came with my system. Thanks!

You have a choice of installation options anywhere after the catalytic converters.  I opted for the tailpipe end as I didn't want to try and disassemble the system and cause any damage.  Just determine the diameter of the pipe and make sure you have seven inches of straight pipe.  The inserts slide in (you may have to grind to fit) and can be tack welded, bolted, or rivited. I welded mine so the Tip could be reinstalled.  See carchemistry.com or call them on 972-775-8124 and speak with Ken for more info.

Thanks Bob, hopefully this will cut down on my consumption of Advil.

Scooter,

Do you think shipping the entire system back to Magnaflow and disputing the credit card charge is an option?

No disrespect meant here. In fact the fact someone found a possible antidote to this problem is surprising. But the thought that these HP exhaust system companies have forced us to experiment with magic discs, at our expense, so that with luck we select the correct combination of variables that happen to reduce the inherent drone of a high priced stainless steel exhaust system, frustrates me. All this with the hope of finally getting what was originally advertised and what we paid for?

You must be totally outraged at this point.

Good luck!
