"The Titan will surely eat the Tundra's lunch, but can Nissan convince Detroit loyalists? Time will tell, but we think Nissan will have no problem meeting its goal of 100,000 units per year. And according to Nissan, if Titan does well, we could see many more variations, including perhaps a supercharged variant and a Diesel-powered heavy-duty model. Detroit better keep an eye on the Titan."

I agree with the fact that Titan can easily take over the Tundra and also snag former Tundra owners, but getting those faithful Ford, Dodge and Chevy owners is a task in itself.

I will not own a GM truck of any kind. I am trading in my Dodge for a Titan. I am very unhappy with Detroit Iron. Al

Happy to hear that!

My father was a big 3 lover and I was at first then many years ago I stepped into the world of Nissan by buying a hardbody truck. I decided to get a new Frontier when they came out so I gave my father my hardbody Nissan. He said he would never own an import, but man when he got that hardbody he loved Nissan so much that he went out and traded it in on a new Nissan Frontier and has been driving it ever since. After that he was sorry he didn't give them a chance before and admits that the big 3 have started lacking in their production.

This shows you can convert anyone!

I've been pushing my dad to the Titan. He's been a Chevy man for over 30 years, and his last truck had a ton (over $2000 in work) of problems. He knows that my Titan will be on the road 10+ years from now, while the other 3 will be serving as scrap parts. But he just won't drive my Titan. Guess he's gun shy of the power!

Sorry Dad, just joking.

But he was leaning toward the Tundra, and I told him that is was just like driving a bigger car, not a real truck. So I'm still working on him.

Bingo! Hit that comment right on the head. My thoughts exactley when driving an 04 and 05 Tundra. They feel very nice and like a car. Not what i wanted at all. It was all over when i just walked up to the Titan for the first time, (about 1 hour after the Tundra test drive) then i drove it and said, now this is a TRUCK. Bought it that day!

Don't be so sure about converting Ford/Chevy/Dodge owners.

Sure, some of them would buy a bag of rusted bolts if it had 'their brand' on it, but many, like myself, simply had no option when looking for a vehicle to do some modest towing (6-9k lbs). I purchased my '03 Ford mainly because it was the best of available options, not because it was a Ford and I couldn't bring myself to buy something else (actually it was just the opposite, cross your fingers and hope for the best).

Sure the Big3 are not at all happy that someone actually will compete against them in this big market - long overdue. And loyalty can only last so long - at some point you've got to have merchandise that is at least close. A lesson I'd think they learned the hard way over the last 30 years in the passenger car market (in the late 60's and early 70s the thought of Honda/Toyota/et al eating the Big3's lunch was laughed at by many - the joke turned out to be on them). I don't wish Ford or any other auto manufacturer ill, but I'm not about to give any company blind loyalty - they best not bank on it.
