Found it thanks Puffman.  Question, how long does it take to remove and reinstall the tonneau cover?  I use mine for the dirt bikes just about every weekend but wouldn't mind covering it during the week.

Oh if I have an extra set of hands, just 2-3 min....by myself, maybe 4-5 min.

How long did it take you build or put together?

I built it in 2 pieces so it would be easier to take on and off by myself. It was pretty simple to build, although I admit I took a lot of time being very precise with my measurements because I wanted it to fit really tight. I was initially worried about the possibility of it flying off while traveling at Hwy speeds, so I decided to screw eyebolts into the wooden frame and secured those to the truck bed tiedowns with bungee cords.

It required 2, 4x8 sheets of 1/2" plywood. I also used 4, 2x4s for the frames and 4 galvanized corner brackets to keep everything nice and square. The frames are basically 2 rectangles, ...2x4s screwed together with deck screws and corner brackets (the 2x4s on their sides, not laying flat.)

I cut the plywood so that it would overlap the bedrails apprx 1 1/2" - 2". (the cover is resting on the bedrails, the 2x4 frame fits down in the bed to keep it centered and fitting snug.) I also added a strip the plywood apprx 5-6" wide to the underside of the back cover (in the middle) to act as a "lip" for the back of the front cover to rest on. This was another attempt to prevent the back cover from lifting off at high speeds and had the added benefit of making it even more watertight. (I added a piece of rubber weatherstripping between the 2 halves.

I attached the plywood to the frames with more deck screws. Countersunk them just a hair, and is even a good idea to cover them with a little wood putty and sand smooth. I learned the hard way, every imperfection will show thru the vinyl once it is glued on.  I used marine grade vinyl from Hancocks fabric, and 3M contact cement from Lowes. CAUTION: the vinyl is very easily scuffed/torn. I scraped mine in 3 places just while I was building it. After glueing the vinyl, I folded it under and stapled it......I think I spent about $100 on all the materials.  PM me if you have any more questions...G L

Hey Puffman, I put my satellite reciever in the same spot!   Mine looks a little different because I bought the Blaupunkt reciever.  I'm taking it back in to change where they put the antenna and to change the mini to mini cable to a Monster mini to mini cable.  It made a hell of a difference in the sound quality.  It comes in stereo and comes in much louder than the other cable I have in there right now.  Once it's done, I'll post a pic.

Woo hoo!  I have successfully installed Sirius in my Titan using the factory radio.  I did it by ordering the Sirius receiver for the Armada, and a couple of things from Crutchfield.  I'm so happy it worked, and that I don't need an FM Modulator.  I've had one before and hated it.

OK Now I am really interested!  I have one of the first LE models in 2004, so it is not SAT ready. (very upset about that!)   Is yours SAT ready?

o2bsurreal - can you post more details about your installation?  WHat parts, how did you get them installed (yourself or pro), cost, etc.

thanks

I spoke with the dealer again today and pointed them to the TSB.  They looked at it and said "Huh.  Looks like it should be SAT wired.  No guarantees..."

I also spoke with my brother who is the manager for a high-end car audio store in NJ.  One of his stores did install satellite into a Titan.  He said the conenction to the pre-wiring is a white connection under the driver's side dash above the break.  Not the computer connection (large white connection in a cutout under the steering wheel in the dash.

I looked and there is a strayconnection that is not being used.  I don't know enough about the connection, but it looks like it may be the pre-wiring for the satellite.  I just called Nissan and they said the truck is pre-wired for satellite.  YEAH!!!   They just made me a happy camper.

If you want to find out for sure, you can call Nissan directly and give them your VIN.  I think all 6 disk changers are wired.  The number is 800-NISSAN-1 or 800-647-7261.  I did option 7, 4 to talk to a customer support rep.

Let's get Sirius!
