Well, after my initial dissapointment with the 8-10, the engine is finally breaking in.    To all those saying "If you wanted better gas milage..blah, blah, blah...." I was only referring to the difference between the stated 15-18 and the 8-10 that I was getting.    Its getting just over 15mpg now, and that I can't complain about.    Its the same milage that I was getting with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the two don't even compare, so I'm much happier.       I had a K&N setup on the old jeep but actually lost gas milage on that vehicle...   So what I'm reading here is that folks are getting slightly better mileage?

Thanks

Roadrash,

I'm consistently getting 15mpg if I'm driving 50/50 highway/City and 16.5 if I'm 100% on the highway at 70-75mph.  I now have 3000 miles on my truck.  I purchased the replacement K&N filter and I believe my mileage stayed roughly the same, if not decreased slightly (which I don't understand).  I've now ordered the K&N FilterCharger to see if it helps.  I should receive it early next week in the mail, so I'll keep you posted on the results.  As a sidenote, the mileage your currently seeing seems about right, so I don't think there's anything wrong with your truck.  Maybe it was just a bit tighter than most during break-in.  I'll let you know about the filtercharger.

Pay for gas or pay for a prematurely worn engine due to larger particles of dirt getting past the K&N?

I'll pay for the gas.

Got the filtercharger installed last night and WOW what a difference in the sound of the truck.  I'm not quite sure I like it or not.  Seems to have more power (like it didn't have enough before).  Won't have a chance to check fuel mileage until I return from a business trip.  It damn near sounds like it has a blower and a different exhaust installed.  Highway noise seems about the same as before, but the thing really makes a "high performance noise" when accelerating hard.

I have around 900 miles and I have been getting no better than 11 miles to the gallon.

I now have 3043 miles on the 4x2 SE Big Tow Titan. I have kept records on my truck with every fill up and I am still averaging right around 14 mpg at every fill up. I drive mostly around town type of driving. I have also towed about an 8200 pound camper with little affect to my overall mileage. I hope when I drive about 350 miles to the beach at the end of May with the camper in tow I remain as pleased with the towing mileage.

Roadrash...

8-10 mpg is a far cry from anything I've experienced.  Are you sure your dealer didn't swap-out that mill with an F150?  My LE is still in break-in and I'm getting 16 mpg around town with consistency on COSTCO 85 Octane.  I don't drive it hard, but I don't baby it, either.  I'm satisfied with the mileage and if I ever get 17-18, like TexasTitan, I'm REALLY gonna be a happy camper.  My old trucks--3 Fords, a Dodge and a Jimmy, all of them 4X4's--were all gas hogs, with the exception of a 93 ranger that gave me about 15 mpg.  As far as the rest of them, if I could squeek 12 mpg, it was a red-letter day.  I'm totally pleased the mileage on the Titan and I've heard others state the same thing.  I think 8-10 mpg is good reason to see your dealer.

Hi.  New here.  Just wondering aren't you supose to run 91 octane in the Titan.  That is what my book says.  It states the engine will knock on anything less.  Some one please confirm.

I'm Ok with the mileage on my 4x2 Titan King Cab with the Tow package, it was 15.1mpg easyfooting it in my 15 mile commute right for fist tank, dropped to 14.5 when I found out how neat it sounded winding through the 5 speed up to 70 or so.  Recent road trip of 800 miles produced 17.5 with a tailwind and right at 17 returning with a headwind, AC on about 90% of the trip. Total mileage is now 1300.

However, I had hoped for better based on my 95 Chevy 1/2 ton extended cab with 350 V8.  It consistently got 16 commute and 19 highway.   (But then, it wasn't nearly as much fun as the Titan!)

K&N and Banks Monster exhaust are on the way.

Anything less than 12-13 should  mean see your dealer.

I'm on my 6th tank or so since the K&N filtercharger was installed.  Over the weekend, I got the best mileage I've seen yet on the highway @ 17.5 MPG.  I was running between 70-80 MPH with the air conditioner on most of the time.  I have a 2WD crew cab with tow and offroad.
