I have 956 miles on mine and average a consistant 14.8 mpg in town so far. Went to Flaggstaff last week from Phoenix and got 15.8. I traded off my Frontier Desert Runner with the V6 that averaged 16.2 in town and 18.0 on the highway. That means that I traded off 165 Hp for 305 and only lost about a gallon per mile...I am jump'n up down with joy!! I understand that they make these spacers that go between the throttle body and manifold that add not only power but, MILEAGE. They are about 100 bucks...now if thay add just one more mile per gallon and more horses...gotta be worth it huh? I'll keep you posted after I gat mine installed witth the K&N filter next week.

An update after 8000 miles: Ran the stock filter for about 2000 miles, then installed the K&N drop-in filter for next 4000 miles, then switched back to the stock paper filter for the last 2000 or so as an experiment, could tell NO difference in mileage either way. My Titan gets very consistent mileage (15 commute, 17.5 highway), so I'm convinced that the filter just doesn't contribute much. My foot makes a BIG difference, but what FUN!!

12000k, 17 mpg "highway". Same as my 2000 Z71 was getting. Same amount of mileage, and a hell of a lot more power. That's just fine by me.

I'm new to the forum - glad to see there are a lot of other Titan fans. My gas mileage seems to be about 10mpg. My Titan is an SE King Cab 4X4 with off-road and tow with 2100 miles. The style of my driving is not too aggressive, but is mostly around town. It seems that K&N is making a difference for most people as well as waiting for the engine to break in. Has anyone obtained any advise or service from a dealership that improved mileage? Way about a free-flow exhaust - has it helped anyone? I would change the exhaust, but I'm worried about the warrenty and sounding like a high-school kid. Thoughts?

Freeflow exhaust (Flowmaster Series 70 Big Block dual-in/dual-out muffler, X-pipe, 2 1/4" pipes from flanges on out the back) has not helped mileage at all, but sure sounds better. Warranty not affected per dealer, sounds much better than when I was a high-school kid!

Crew cab, 4X4 off road package, big tow package, K&N filter, 4000 miles, 12 mpg city. I don't baby it, love to hear that engine roar, so I can't complain. When I go on trips I end up off roading it once I am there and mileage ends up near the same, about 13 mpg.
I'll save my crying for when gas goes up to 3 bucks.

I know I didn't buy it for the gas mileage but it seems to that no one has hit the 14/19 that they advertize.

I was getting about 19mpg in my 02 Silverado w/the 5.3 and 3.73's. I am at 2800 miles and I am finally up to 14mpg after many tanks of 11-12mpg. That is city/highway driving, but I drove my Silverado the same route. I can't wait to go back to General Motors...

LE 4x2 getting 17/19 since day one. Currently 2100 miles. Half of that was one highway trip. Had an F150 that only got me 15/17. Really liked the Ford but nothing comes close to my Brawn Red Beast. Only mod so far is dual Dynamax with Magnaflow tips. Straight out the back not sideways. The sound is incredible. I look forward to reading more from others. I intend more mods later (after the Christmas money crunch). I also only use the higher octane fuel. I believe that the higher the burn - the cleaner the burn.
This chick digs her Truck.
