If you have it on defrost it will come on no matter what when you start the truck.

My truck does seem to be blowing cold when it is on regular air and sometimes it blows warm when the heater is off and the outside air is cool.

I think this is all about the system being a 'climate control' and not an AC system in reality.
I found that the button was ON when I jumped in last night. But the temp was up about half way. I turned it OFF but then the air began to fog up the windows. Flipped it back on remembering that the syatem will then also serve as a de humidifier.

FYI:
The A/C comes on automatically when you have your defroster on for a couple reasons:
1. To remove moisture in the air that causes your window to fog up, besides removing outside frost/ice.
2. To circulate the coolant during off-season, i.e. winter, so the system stays lubricated.
Can't remember right now on the Titan, but my wife's Maxima's book says to run the A/C once per month for a few minutes to keep the system in shape. (kinda like starting your car once in a while that you store or don't drive much).

I know that the AC is running in defrost mode...the problem I have had on 2-3 occassions is as follows: (it was blowing cold air with the defrost AND the AC in the OFF position...the only way I could get it to quit blowing cold air was to turn the fan off. When I turned the fan back on it started blowing cold air again...the few times it has done this, the only way to "fix" it was to turn the ignition off and then back on ) I believe both times it did this I had had the AC on, then turned on the defrost ..then turned the defrost off and then the AC....it should have then just been the fan blowing, but even after 10, 20, 30 minutes, it was still blowing cold air.

I have the same problem, when you go from defrost to normal operation without ac then the ac stays on even without an ac light. I looked under the hood and found that the ac was coming on and the only way to reset it was to shut the engine off.
Will call the dealer and let you know.

This is not a problem It's the way it's designed to work. If you switch to defrost above 36F the compressor starts and will not shut off until the engine is turned off. You can debate the wisdom of the design but it's not broke.
Yes, In my previous cars you could switch off the compressor but under some conditions the windows then fogged worse. Remember, the AC evap core in your heater box will still be wet so the moisture will go back on your windows if it's not chillin'. I'm sure this had something to do with the decision to program of the body control module to keep the AC on line.
I seem to recall some posts on other forums last year that if you switched OFF defrost within 2 minutes the compressor WOULD shut off. I haven't tried that so I can't confirm.
