Can some of you do me a favor and just check to see if your truck rolls backwards on hills when it is in drive? I'd really like to know if this is "normal". The dealer is still telling me that this is "normal" and that they will not even look at my transmission. I drove 3 Titans before I bought mine and I dont remember any of them rolling backwards while in gear.
Just stop on a hill, leave it in drive, and let go of the brake and see if it rolls backwards. Mine will roll backwards as if it was in neutral. (make sure there are no cars behind you when you do it!)
Thanks!

Mine doesn't. Holds its own on hills. - Jim

It is perfectly normal for our trucks to be rolling backwards on a hill. Even though you are in "drive" this does not mean it's impossible for your truck to roll backwards or that it's even bad behavior. Some trannies have TC's that have much lower stall speeds than others. I'm guessing that because of the large towing capacity the titan has, Nissan put a higher stall speed in to give the titan that initial "lurch" off the line to get the load moving easier.
Also keep in mind that when your engine is COLD, testing this may not result in you rolling backwards because of the much much higher idle rpm's. Only do this test with a well warmed engine.
Sitting in my driveway with a slight incline my truck will sit still, it won't move forward nor backwards(when warm). When my engine is cold, the truck will fly up the driveway into the garage without even completely letting go of the brakes.

Yea my truck does the same thing. Do you really have to use to feet though on a hill to not move? I just have lightly pressed on the gas to get the revs up a lil bit and it stays in place, without using my other foot on the brake. Is this bad for the engine?

My truck also rolls backwards as does my buddies 04 F150. I've just got to get use to the way the emergency brake releases compared to the normal release when pulling the boat out of the lake.

Here's one for you. my titan after pulling into my snow covered driveway and the wheels slip in 2WD will after it is placed in park and the engine turned off roll down the driveway about 10 feet and come to a grinding stop.
Hows that for a screw up?

Sorry but couldn't understand what your saying? Are you saying your truck rolled back while in park? Way your driveway icy, is there an incline?

Yes my truck rolled back while in park and the engine off. I tried to duplicate it again today and it only happens if the wheels are spinning just before turning it off.

Mines fine...in fact it seems to hold on a hill (when not towing of
course) WITHOUT even rolling back an inch! Touch the throttle and it
goes. Like it's supposed to I would guess
