funny you mention this, I have had it quite a lot recently, just had it today infact... I always thought it was the gas station pumping it too fast.

Any thoughts on what it is?

I have about 6k on my truck and never had this problem. Sounds like the gas is coming out of the pump too fast not letting the air escape and pushing the fuel back up the filler neck. It would explains pulling the nozzle out it works fine.

Yup, any gas goin in displaces air that has to go somewhere..I think its kinda like a burp...lol...just pull the nozzle out a bit and/or let up on the handle a bit.

actually I've seen on titantalk.com that some people think its a defect in the gas tank inlet pipe, and that it may have to do with cooler temperatures outside. They were saying that the vapor pressure relief valve was sticking and therefore not allowing the air in the tank be replaced by more gasoline...

I am gonna call Nissan about it soon and see what they say. This is a very serious problem that can have very serious reprocussions!

Nissan had this issue with the 2002 Xterra and they issued a recall to
fix the problem...wonder if the same thing is occurring with our Titans.

Never had that problem. My Titan loves gas. It takes all it can handle.

One would hope if Nissan had a problem in 2002 that they had to fix, that they wouldnt have designed the same problem into a 2004 model....ofcourse it prolly wouldnt be the first time...lol
