I purchase my Titan in 8/04. The brakes began to shudder around 9k. The dealer turned the rotors/new pads @ 12k. At 17k they went again. The dealer turned rotors/replaced pads and informed me that Nissan now acknowledged they had a problem with 1 batch of parts. However, it did not constitute a recall. He told me I was on a waiting list of approx. 5 weeks to get the new replacement rotors being sent. Each dealer is alloted 1 set per week! I think I will leave my Titan with the dealer until it is fixed and drive my 1986 Isuzu Pup Diesel. It is much more dependable & gets 45 mpg vs. 14 on the Titan.

Look from the bright side...new pads and rotors for life...

1.  The disc and pads were designed too small...

2.  Hard driving will accelerate wears on parts

3.  All new products has flaws

The Titans still ROCKS!

Well finally some good news.

I made a call to a different dealer than the one I purchased the truck from and found out that they had 1 extra rotor/brake kit.

I had it installed yesterday and all seems to be fine.  What a difference!  Will this be the end of the problems?  Time will tell.

Thanks Coral Springs Nissan.

I had my "final fix" done on my '04 Titan last week, I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope this is the last of the problem. I hate having so much trouble with my truck, I really do like it and everyone compliments me on it or maybe it's being a 5'4 blonde in a 4x4 black crew cab. Anyhow I'll keep ya posted and keep reading the messages looking for new info. By the way I did make a complaint with the BBB,because no one should spend that much money on a new truck and have this much trouble.

how much did it cost you to get the enhanced pads? just wondering?

I can't remember pricing.  I think it was like $120 or so.

So, Nissan is putting all this money into totally redesigning the rotors when it's only the pads.....makes sense.  Sounds like Mr. Brake pads should be working for Nissan.  Why the hell should I be going out and paying to replace brake pads on a new vehicle that is under warranty!!!!!!!!!!!   I have Nissan's new improved rotors on mine and so far they still feel good after 4000K miles.

I have friends who work at Nissan.  I've been to Nissan Corporate and I've been to Arizona Test Center does that count.  Anyhow the reason they are doing all that is to keep customers as happy as possible.  So they are trying to come up with a solution that retains all the same qualities the current setup has with out having customers *WHINE* about something else.

Like okay now the "warped feeling" is gone but I get slightly more dusting or slightly more brake noise.  Once you understand how things work then you'll get it.  FYI I've been invovled in the Nissan Community for the last 7 years and currently own 4 Nissans myself.  I'm not making stuff up I know what I'm talking about.  This is why I don't usually frequent Forums because they are the breeding grounds of misinformation and the signal to noise ratio is so high its hard to find the truth.

As for putting money into something thats under warranty is $100 or so alot to put into your truck to solve an issue for good.  Shoot its like 2 fill ups these days.

Don't be part of the problem be part of the solution.  Oh and to quote a friend of mine "Do you want to go fast or suck?"

Nissan has failed in a big way.  2 years of brake problems on the same truck that they still don't have corrected.  They have gotten significant negative publicity and feelings from customers that won't soon be forgotten.  Since you have been to the Nissan test site, how does something like this not get discovered during testing if they are putting these trucks thru serious testing especially during heaving towing, etc?

Another question for you.  Have you noticed a high pitched whistle/whine noise in your Titan during normal acceleration?  The service techs at my dealer don't hear what I'm talking about.  It kind of sounds like a turbo spooling up.

I also had my Titan to the shop again to fix the power window.  Occasionally it doesn't want to go back up and takes multiple attempts.  My dealer couldn't figure out that problem either.  I think I need to find a different dealer.

I love my Titan, but I'm very tired of visiting the dealership with problems.

Like I had mentioned before....It took Toyota 4 years to finally fix the Tundra's Brake issues, which were the same as the Titan's....if not worse.

Yeah-

I'm having the same experience with my driver's side window.  Its been taking several attempts to get my window to go back up.

I'll have them look at that.

Thanks
