I think everyone was referring to the rotors being too thin when they were saying too small.....common sense.

So, Nissan is putting all this money into totally redesigning the
rotors when it's only the pads.....makes sense. Sounds like Mr.
Brake pads should be working for Nissan. Why the hell should I be
going out and paying to replace brake pads on a new vehicle that is
under warranty!!!!!!!!!!! I have Nissan's new improved
rotors on mine and so far they still feel good after 4000K
miles. |

I have friends who work at Nissan. I've been to Nissan
Corporate and I've been to Arizona Test Center does that count.
Anyhow the reason they are doing all that is to keep customers as happy
as possible. So they are trying to come up with a solution that
retains all the same qualities the current setup has with out having
customers *WHINE* about something else.
Like okay now the "warped feeling" is gone but I get slightly more
dusting or slightly more brake noise. Once you understand how
things work then you'll get it. FYI I've been invovled in the
Nissan Community for the last 7 years and currently own 4 Nissans
myself. I'm not making stuff up I know what I'm talking
about. This is why I don't usually frequent Forums because they
are the breeding grounds of misinformation and the signal to noise
ratio is so high its hard to find the truth.
As for putting money into something thats under warranty is $100 or
so alot to put into your truck to solve an issue for good. Shoot
its like 2 fill ups these days.
Don't be part of the problem be part of the solution. Oh and to quote a friend of mine "Do you want to go fast or suck?" |

I think you should stop living vicariously through your friends.
This isn't a simple "PAD" problem. If you think it is, you're
kidding yourself. After my third resurfacing, the shudder didn't
come back. This doesn't mean the problem is gone. The pads
were a simple easy stop-gap for Nissan. Changing pad compounds
from the manufacturer takes minimal work. The rotor itself was
not designed to dissipate heat as efficiently as was needed.
I just had the upgraded rotors/pads/everything put on today(fourth
service center visit relating to the brakes), and so far everything
feels great. The brake slop is all fixed(every service
appointment I complained about this, and every time they couldn't fix
it), and it stops like a champ. We'll see if this is the final
fix. I do a lot of back-country driving and am not the easiest on
my brakes, so I'm sure if there's still an issue I'll find it.
Oh, and regarding your previous post about how everyone that gets in
your truck can "feel" how great it brakes..... That's just plain
stupid. Maybe they can feel how well the new pads "bite", but I'm
not confident you even know what that means. After the initial
bite, it's all smooth friction from there, even crappy pads can lock up
the wheels.

I have 6000 miles on new kit now and no brake dust and no problems this
is now the best truck on the market hands down. I would not buy
any other truck.

Can you see the difference in the new rotors. Had mine fixed seems fine to me. Sounds like I probably got a pad swap. Have 16k miles left under warrenty.

They seem fine in the beginning, then it's right back to the vibration if they didn't use the new kit...............
