I still have not been able to find where the smell is coming from, but I also haven't noticed it since the temperatures have cooled down now.  I'll probably smell it again next summer.

Ok, when I left work I checked my gas cap and guess what..........it was loose.  I could freely turn it back and forth.

Don't know if this was really the problem, but I tightened it to 3 "clicks".  We'll see.

Thanks for all the replies.

That should have nothing to do with the gas gauge.

I found anti freeze on the waterpump itself. Its was hidden in the ridges. I cleaned that off and helf the smell went away. Its as if they spilled some and it ran down the hose and deposited on the pump. I still smell it but it is now quite faint.

Thanks for the info, I am still smelling antifreeze. I'll check around the water pump.

I have 5000 miles on my TITAN and have had the same gas tank intermittent problem. It only occurs about once a month and only occurs when I fill up from low gas levels(which of course is often!!!)

When I get my next service I will mention it....................

I am not sure if I can help with the antifreeze problem or not.

I just bought an 04 SE 4x4 two weeks ago and it had 174miles on it when I left the lot. The second day I had the truck I noticed an antifreeze smell. When I opened the hood there was antifreeze everywhere. It looked like it was shooting out from under the cap. I took it to the dealer I bought it at and they pressure tested the system. They said that the truck was fine. That day I had to travel about 400 miles and they told me that they believed the cap hadn't been tightened after their 15-point inspection. They didn't replace the cap.

About 200miles from the dealership I stopped to make sure everything was O.K. and again there was antifreeze everywhere.

To make a long story short. I took the truck to a different dealer who pressure tested the system and found a hairline fracture between the filler top and the vent hose for the reservoir. The service guy said that they checked the hose clamp for the vent hose and the cap and they were functioning fine. They re-pressure tested the radiator and determined that there was a fracture. He told me, "Congratulations, we called Nissan and you are the first in the nation to have this problem." I now only have 800miles on the truck. Nice huh.

The are special ordering the parts and its due to be installed on Tue 01/04/05.

Than

I first had problems with my heater not heating. I had it looked at by a friend and there was not much water in the radiator.  We added water and the heater started to work.  Within a few days my radiator coolant was leaking out of my radiator onto my carport.  We have since found out that there is a service bulletin on the radiator cap something to do with pressure build up.  My radiator has a leak at the seam and is in the shop for repair which the parts are on back order.   It sounds like you may be having the same problem.
