I have had a Chevy before (1990 Sliverado) and I have the 2004 Titan...I can't really say which is better now beause of 14 years difference but I can say that I had a choice and I liked the Titan much better. Since my first foreign car (02 Altima 3.5SE) I am convinced that they make really good products. Not to mention it is HUGE and has a lot of amenities that others cost big $$$ to get. I plan on owning this for 300K miles and wanted to get one that I would be able to use fairly trouble free. Of course...GM should give you that too. Drive them both and see which one feels better.

I was also a GM guy before I bought the Titan. Other than a couple minor quirks and cosmetic issues it has been a good truck. The towing capability of this truck is awesome. I've never had a truck that pulls like this one. Ride is another key element to the Titan. Now frame shake when you hit a quick bump like my other GM trucks. Hope this helps.

I for one am missing my 02 Silverado... only wish GM would upgrade the tranny to a 5 or 6 speed auto. The silverado had a lot more power down low, the Titan blows it a way on top end, but this is a truck, it should have low end power. I wish I could get my 02 Silverado back.

Allot more power down low? When i go to this site:
http://www.new-cars.com/2002/chevrolet/chevrolet-silverado.h tml
I see 300 HP from the 6.0 liter engine (!) lots of cubes eh,and 360 ft lbs of torque. Am interested in which engine config you had to say the Titan needs more low end power.....
Are you trolling for flames (only 3 posts) or does the Silerado have that more low end. I wonder because both figures , HP and torque are very near the same... with the edge of course going to the Nissan.

Thanks Johnboy, you made me laugh and I agree with you. It is like politics most people do not do their research and therefore do not know waht they are speaking about.

Msolds,
Please go and do a back to back comparo just to satisfy yourself brother. I have all good intentions with my reply to brokoli, its just that the niumbers are so close i just dont see the GM having allot more down low. It is possible i guess, as I have never driven a GM and am sure that they are nice in their own right. Its personal preference as you know.
Let us know what you decide ok?

My first post:
I have to agree on the power band issue. The pushrod V-8's will make peak torque around 2100 to 3000 RPM's. That is much sooner than our DOHC V-8 which peeks around 3600 to 4000 RPM's.

I have a '00 rado. I also bought a '05 Titan two days ago. When
comparing, the rado rides a little better and that's about where it
ends. Both are good trucks, my local chevy dealers didn't have the
allocations and were low on crewcabs thus very little discounting off
of msrp. The nissan dealer was a little more accomodating. Also GM
offered $2000 rebate on the rado plus another $1500 GM owner rebate for
a total of $3500 in rebates vs. the $1000 now being offered on the
titan. IMHO the titan is a better value though I still like the
Silverado.
Oh and I also own a '91 Hardbody with 125000 miles and its still ticking lol.
