I have 16K miles on my 04 Titan, recently I've had my 4th set of Brakes, Roters ect... installed and was told by my service advisor, this will not be the last time.

From what I was told, Nissan is manufactoring another Brake Kit for Titan and Armada which will be available in late May.

I love my Titan, it is classy, sharp looking, and very tough.  However I'm getting a little ticked off with the braking system.

I've looked into filing a complaint with regards to the Lemon Law in the state of AZ, does anyone have complaints similar to mine>

MOst everyone has the same complaint but since Nissan is fixing the problem it make it harder for the comsumer to file a complaint and get it through. Nissan has the same problem Toyota did with the Tundra and Land Crusier-they fixed it over a 3 year period and they have not had an issue since but Nissan is not doing a full redesign and thats why we all keep having our brakes done instead of Nissan coming out with a true replacement, they just give us a quick fix.

I got sutter from the brakes at 3500miles....When I went in for a oil change they told me about the bulletin and fix before I could tell them about it !!!!

Although I must say, I'd be alittle pissoff if I had to have them changed 3 times in 16k miles!!!!!!!

I'm going in this Friday to have the replacement brake kit installed. I'll ask my service advisor about all the details and report back my findings.

Judder is a fairly common problem and if you go to other non- Titan/Armada forums you'll see this same issue. Go to Stop Tech brakes and read their white paper on judder - it's very informative.

If you go with ST's opinion then the rotor isn't the cause. Change the pad material or recipie or move the judder "sweet spot" out of your driving habits or conditions.

It's probably easier to change the pads than it is to change how/where you drive.

Judder doesn't come solely from heat - you read about guys doing club races and laps that tear through a set of track pads in one session getting those rotors COOKIN! - but no judder results.

Mix some heat with the wrong pads and frequent stops and you get judder.

Our pad choices pretty limited now and since we really don't know what kind of OEM pads we now have it makes it a bit more difficult.

However- making a change is probably in order. Especially if you've had 2-3 repeated replacements. Time to change something !

It may be as easy as just throwing in a set of NAPA or Pep Boys pads or something from Akebono,AXXIS,Carbotech,EBC etc. Haven't seen anything from Hawk yet.

Keep in mind that as you change between organic,ceramic,semi-metallic, metallic, street, track, race etc. you trade off certain characteristics.

Race compound pads are great at 800F! but you'll use two feet on the pedal to stop when cold! Not a good choice.

You're on your fourth set of brakes in 16,000 miles and your service advisor says this will not be the last time?

And you haven't told the general manager of your dealership to stick the truck where the sun doesn't shine, then fire his service manager for providing you with absolutely no confidence that they've fixed the problem?

Would you tolerate it if your dentist told you, "That filling isn't going to hold. See you in a couple of months?" Or how about the plumber, "we've fixed the leak, but we've done such a half-assed job, you can expect us back."

Me thinks you're trolling. Apologies if you're not. But, me thinks you are.

I've gone through this rotor warping thing with other cars (most notably Honda's and our current Acura TL-S) so I know how terribly frustrating it can be.  However, I'm either doing something right (wrong?) or I'm just lucky (knocking on head) because after almost 19K miles, my brakes & rotors are just fine.  And I would estimate that of those 19K, a good 4K involved towing a 2800lb boat.

I'm not trying to point a finger or be critical or whatever, but I'm wondering if it isn't our braking technique that's contributing to the problem?  Personally, I find myself braking completely differently when I drive the Titan versus when I'm in the Acura.  In my Titan, I tend to allow myself much more braking room and start my braking earlier.  I also find myself trying to be smoother on & off the brakes (must be the mo'sickle racer in me kicking in) - especially when towing the boat.

Of course, now that I've said all this, I'll probably warp my rotors on the way home tonight!

Anyhow, I'm sorry you guys are having such a bad experience with your brakes and I hope they find a solution for you soon.

Tom

Ditto... I have wondered the same thing. I know if my sister drove my Titan like she drives her Camry, I would expect to have warped rotors, no brake pads..etc...Either way, I cross my fingers that I dont have any brakes issues anytime soon, and I am thankful that I havent so far.....sympathies to those who have....keep on truckin

Should we really have to modify our driving style for this truck? I have never had to do it on my suburban so why the Titan. The suburban has more weight but does not warp rotors. I drive it the same as the Titan and the Titan warped after 2500 miles,so waht gives. Does GM make a better rotor or maybe a thicker rotor.
