Got rear ended today sitting at a stop light. Click the pictures to see the full size ones-

Mine

His

Check out the skid marks, they go all the way under the DPS officer's car

The red car was his girlfriends that was following him. Of course...no driver's license, no english, not his car, California plates, and the insurance is questionable. Bastard. I've already filed a claim with my insurance company to after the other insurance company (if it's valid). Cop said he was getting numerous violations and it probably didn't look good for me and his insurance...no shiat. Neck and back are already sore. I probably would have been better off just kicking his azz and leaving, maybe in my younger days.

Looks like I'll be needing a right bedside, bumper, maybe a hitch (but it's just scratched), tailpipe, and possibly a tail light. Oh yeah, and a new license plate. Cop estimated his speed at 50-60 mph. Amazingly it didn't even bend the bumper brackets, that is one tough truck.

Miker,

That happened to me in my old truck. No english, no insurance, no drivers liscense. He gave me his name, address and phone number. All turned out to be bogus. The car wasn't his. Fortunately all I had to replace was the back bumper.

miker - Sorry to hear about your truck getting hit.  Glad you're not seriously hurt and that your truck isn't badly damaged.  Hope things work out for the best.

From that last photo, can I assume that he knocked you that far forward?  I mean, there seems to be a good gap between where his car is and your truck is.  I can see that happening if he hit you at that speed.  Wow...

Just before I bought my Titan, I was rear-ended by some chick putting on make-up and following too close.  Cars in front of me slowed up suddenly, I jumped on the brakes, everything was cool and then....WHAM!  WHAM!  Seems another chick was following the one behind me too close too!  So my poor Chebby S-10 pickemup got a double whammy.  Tailgate & bumper was bent and a few trim pieces were buggered.  LOL...Ironically, the wreck actually increased the value of my truck.  I mean, before the wreck I was trying to sell the S-10 for $3000.  After the wreck, I traded it (as is)  in on my Titan and they gave me $2500 for it.  Plus, the girl's insurance company paid me $1800!  Hell, had I known that, I would've had someone hit me sooner!!

Good luck!

Tom

*shaking my head in sorrowed shame*

Anytime I have dealt with some "non english" speaker, I have always gotten their id card: drivers license, social securtiy, green card, whatever they have on them. This makes them sweat, knowing that I could hand it over to some agency, so they all ways come through. Just a tip for those who may come across this some time in the future, and it hasn't ever failed!

Glad you weren't hurt. Wish the foreign bastard was dead. This is yet another reason for my leaving California and heading back to the United States. Best of luck to you in the melt-down pot of California.
