I know what the manual says, and it seems really excessive to me. Personally, I would think you would be set to go after 500 miles. What did you all do?

Up to about 1000 miles I took it easy, but after that I pretty much drove like I normally do.

Pretty sure the Titan is ready for the challenge straight off the lot.

If you break in the Titan the same way as a Sentra, I bought one of those too, then for the first 1,000 miles you're not supposed to exceed 4,000 rpm in any gear and try not to drive at a constant speed either slow or fast. The pistons need time to be seated and racing the engine beyond the stated limit during the break in period could have adverse effects later on. Plus, you're not supposed to "wind up" the Endurance V8. It's a truck motor afterall, and it doesn't rev as freely and as easily as a 4 cylinder mill like the 2.5 liter motor in my '04 Sentra.

Guess you haven't been past 4k rpm on that engine yet, the power band from 4k to 6k is pretty wicked :)
