I bought an 04 SE with no bed rails. at the time it was going to be expensive to buy. anyway i have decided that i would like to upgrade my bed to include the bedrail system. I have talked to the dealer and they tell me that it can't be after it leaves the factory. I for one don't believe that, almost anything can be done or at least added on to away from the factory. So my question is does anyone know if i can install the rails once i pull out the bedliner? The parts for the railsystem are not to expensive.
thanks

You'll have to search for it but, I'm sure I remember someone in this forum wanting to sell their bed rails.
Another option is to go after market, a local 4wheel drive shop has a similar system for sale.

The top black plastic rail/bed top just pops off. You should be able to place the rails where you need them, mark the holes and drill holes. With the top black piece off you will be able to place the nuts on the bolts. The reason it can't be after the factory is that they spotweld square nuts on the back side of the holes. I know this because when they "repaired" my bed the first time, they reinstall the rails and stripped out three nuts. After much discussion at the dealer we knocked the nuts off and put regular nuts in their place. The middle nuts will be hard to get to but it can be done. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information.
I will start looking into taking off the black bed caps. Does the same go for the rails in the floor of the bed? I would just have to pull out the liner, drill into the floor?
Also, Mavryck
I thought that 4wheel drive shops only carried stuff for 4x4 in the mud, etc, etc. not for carring or securing cargo?
thanks,

I think the floor is the same way. Good lock.

Central 4wheel drive has a cargo system similar to what's on the Titan, but since I wasn't looking for that I didn't pay much attention to it. I don't know the brand name etc. Next time I'm in the area I'll find out more info.
I used the term 4wheel drive shop because that's where I saw it. I suppose you might find something similar at a "Truck" shop or some auto parts suppliers. |

Great, I will check out the website. I am sure that an after market would be better anyway and proabably cheaper.

I want to replace mine with aluminum diamond but I dont think they make
that for the titan. Been scratching mine all and it is starting to look
ugly.
