2004 Titan . I had the rotors turned and a brake job at 7,000 miles due to steering shimmy during braking. Fixed the problem temporarily. Now I have 16,000 miles and the same problem. Went to Dealership today to have it fixed again. Evidently, Nissan has a new brake program going on for this problem. They are replacing all components front and back. However, there is a pin that is required for service that is backordered. Dealer says it may be available in 2 weeks. Service advisor will call me when they are coming.

P.S. They have started a waiting list for this service. Get in line now.

Titans are notorious for having under-engineered brakes. "Brake Pros" has addressed this problem and they have 2 solutions to this problem.

The first upgrade is a two piston sliding caliper with a 14" diameter rotor. It's huge! The rotor is cross drilled, slotted, and is equipped with curved vanes vented for efficient cooling. The rotors are two piece which means that when they wear out you just replace the outer rotor and not the hat (part that the wheel mounts to). Stainless steel lines are also included for a true bolt on, no mod upgrade. I think it retails for about $1500. It may seem expensive, but think about how many brake jobs you've had to do in the past few months and the cost soon becomes justified. These brakes will last longer, stop better (much much better), and fit behind the OE 18" wheels on the Titan and Armada. My friend has this upgrade and the difference is night and day. These are the brakes that the Titan/Armada should have come with from the factory! Some Socal Nissan dealers are even installing these kits on their customer's cars (not for free) since they are also aware of the inferior braking of these trucks.

The next option is the AP racing 6 piston calipers with 15" rotors. These won't fit behind stock wheels and cam be compared to the brake calipers used on high end performance cars and race vehicles such as NASCARs and Formula One cars. These brakes are the ULTIMATE in overkill but will transform your ill fated stopping power to world class levels. I believe this kit runs about $3300. Not for your average Titan owner, but it is the ultimate brake upgrade.
