Hey, this is my first post on this forum. I have been interested in buying a titan for a while now and finally found an 04 LE 4x4 today with almost 10,000 miles on it. It is top of this line extended cab but has a lot of scratches on it and a small dent on one side of the truck, and a plastic peice is torn off on the rear of the truck. The dealer says that they will fix this but I am thinking that if I buy it like it is I can save a little money. The reason I saw the truck like this is because I pulled up just as they bought the truck and the salesman told me about it.

How much do you think this truck is worth as it is now and then after they buff it and fix the plastic?

Kinda hard to give an opinion without seeing. Do you think that you would really save alot of money buying it with those problems. If I were going to buy that new of a truck, I would want everything to "right" on it. I guess one of the things that would bother me would be that I would know that those problems were there and would spend the money that I saved on fixing the problems. I don't think they will give you as good of a deal as you may think. I dunno, I could be wrong and you could luck up and get the deal of the century. I just guess I'm trying to say go ahead and buy new.

I think a "used" truck with lots of scratches and some body damage would be fairly hard to sell. Of course the salesmen wont point that fact out to you...lol. I'd be willing to bet that they will offer to fix the problems (as you said they did) and then come off the price a couple thousand bucks as compared to a new one. Personally, I wouldn't fool with it unless it was a REALLY good deal...a couple thousand below used blue book, not compared to new. But you have to be careful with that too. Being so new, there may not be a true "used" blue book value avail yet. I know there wasn't a few months ago, cuz I was trying to trade my '04 when I got laid off.

I would also want to know why a "new" truck with only 10K miles on it is for sale?? Was it a demo? or did some one trade it already? if so, why? was it possibly a lemon that gave its original owner nothing but problems...the truthful answers to these questions might be hard to establish. That is why I would prolly steer clear. If you truly think there is a good deal to be had in the truck, go for it. Also keep in mind the rising gas prices..it is increasingly more and more difficult for the dealerships to sell the big SUVs and trucks they have on their lots...use this to your advantage to negotiate a heck of a deal. You can bet that they used that excuse when they took it for trade!...good luck

I had a 2003 chevy crew cab 4x4 with one scratch and 10,000 miles. After researching the lemon law, I found out that it was much to my advantage to trade the truck in and to continue($2000 and lawyer cost). I told the dealership about the truck and showed all the repair tickets (GM saying it is fixed 10 or so times). They traded me no problem. The next two guys that got that truck at a good price spent just as much time in the shop as I did.

I learned that you get what you pay for and that a "good deal" does not always mean a good deal for you.
