Hey,

Time to get my first oil change, and wondering has anyone done it themselves.  I have always changed the oil in my cars up until a year or so ago, when it became easier to just pay $14.95 to have the shop do it.

I plan on using M1 synthetic and I would like to cut costs as much as possible and just do it myself.  Does anyone have any experience with the Titan?  Is it better to just bite the bullet and have the shop change it?

TIA,

Josh

At this point in the game I would say let them change it if you have the skidpan. I think it takes a 3mm allen wrench to open the skid pan access hole. It also takes 6.75 quarts of oil. Dont do like me and start draining the oil in your "back up oil pan" that holds 5.5 quarts. It makes quite a mess. The first time changing the oil the filter will be installed verrrrry tight. Have the correct filter wrench before you start.

Hopes this helps.

I recently switched to M1, and the oil change cost almost $50. Seems a little pricey, but with synthetic, aren't supposed to be able to go longer between oil changes?

The bolts on the Skid plate are 10mm and the filter can be a bit "sticky" to remove, almost like it has a vacuum seal. It does hold 6.5 quarts of oil and that can get pricy but you also get the advantage of picking your filter-Nissan filter are not the greatest. It takes a little longer to get the plate off and to wrestle the filter but nothing you can't handle

Went to Nissan dealer today.  They told me $45 to change the oil w/ synthetic.  I'll get them to do it next week when they do brake repair number 1....

lucky me

If this is your first oil change... you should really go at least 15K with dino oil. this will allow your engine the proper break-in (rings to seat, and bearings to break in. after that you can change to SYN and start reaping the rewards of better milage, and a quiter valve train.

Sorry this post is late, hope its not too late.
