I had my truck on the dyno for a test and would appreciate some help with results.  Our truck is supposed to be 305 hp  & 379 ft #'s stock.

My test runs yielded a best of 244.4 hp at the wheel and 324.6 ft #'s torque.  The technician said hp measured at the wheel is not the same as posted hp on the sticker and he used a factor of 1.25 to get equivilant hp numbers.

Can someone help with the information?  I can send the dyno result graph if needed.  Thanks.

the HP and TQ numbers advertised are engine only not rear wheel HP, this is the same with all cars/trucks

Is there a factor that is reliable to equate my dyno results to the rated hp from the factory?  The dyno guy said he uses 1.25 which would make the truck hp equal 305.5 hp.  That is a little disappointing since the test is with my Volant CAI and Airaid throttle body spacer installed.  Exhaust is stock.  Is there a reference I could look up to figure this out?

normal drivetrain loss is usually around 20% of the rated HP...

305 HP Divided by 20% Equals 61 ..

305 Minus 61 Equals 244 HP.

there are a few ways that differant dyno's can get differant numbers, from what ive heard, on the titan, the best dyno results have come from a dynojet dyno, running the truck in 3rd gear

also try reseting your ECM before you put the truck on the dyno to get some lost power back

Any power adders.

Since the power of the truck takes a 20% loss in driveline resistance, anything that has a stated gain in power that you put on your truck, say 20HP, expect to see only 16HP gain at the wheels, UNLESS that product states that the expected HP gains are measured at the wheels, then hopefully you would get around where the the manufacturer stated that that particular product would yield.

If a product states that it will add 20HP to the wheels, in actuality, it gives you about 25HP at the engine.

So in short, if you increase power at the engine, you will increase your power to the wheels with a slight percentage loss. Think of it like taxes. Your engine power is your gross pay, and the power at the wheels is what you take home.
