We had the first rear axle fail at 7000 miles. Now with 36000 it happened again. The first warentee took 6 weeks. We hope this warentee won't take as long. The service manager looked up all the internal parts inside the rear diff looking for updated (improved) internal parts. NO change. The manufaturer is simply sending out the same diff!  That's crazy. We luv this truck. The motor is awesome! But were selling it now. If Nissan actually would have addressed the diff problem with an improved part we would never sell this truck. But we can't trust it now. Bye Bye Titan!

Anyone else had a second diff fail?

What year is your Titan.  I know that there were new product pains with the 2004 and 2005, I thought most was hammered out for the 2006

We have a 2004. As I said the Service manager did a search on the internal parts. No up grades or new part numbers. All their doing is putting back the same diff with peanutbutter spyder gears.

My '04 (born 11-03) diff went out (can't remember the mileage) and it was replaced with what was supposed to be an upgraded version (only had to wait 3 months for parts!!!). 32,000 miles now and no other problems.

Well, My rear diff went out today! I was pulling into my drive and there was a little ice at the end, gave it a little gas and clunk! I put in park then back into drive thinking the truck slipped out of gear and I heard the spin of the gears and a grind! I made it to 25700 miles, mines a 04 LE crew with big tow and off road. I hope its not down for 6 weeks!! They gave you a loaner right?

Got my truck back on Monday so only took four days. They replaced the whole rear axle. Looks to be a 06 unit with finned diff cover.
