I change oil every 3-4000k miles on my 2004 titan. Around 2,500 miles into cycle I notice slight valve tap so I check oil. When I pull dip stick oil level is below low mark and I have to add 2 to 2 1/2/Qts. This has been occuring for as long as I can remember. No oil leaks on my garage floor and never smell anything burning or see smoke. Can anyone offer any thoughts on why this is occuring. Is this common in big V-8's. I have only had 4 and 6's in cars and never went thru oil.

Also, for such a hugh engine what up with the tiny oil filter. Is there a work around on this or is the little filter OK??

Nonetheless the truck runs great. Only problems have been brakes and passenger window.

I agree the little filter looks puny, but rest assured...its the right one...As for the oil usage...NOT!! ..After an oil change and running it a few minutes, you might need to add a piece of a quart, but it shouldnt be "using" any oil and certainly not 2 + quarts. Its goin somewhere ...no drips in the driveway? ...hmmmm
