Am I correct in that our engines are basicly the same as the Infiniti V8 making 345HP?

If so, what would be the difference?  Is it the ECU for the fuel? Cams? Heads? What is it that gives the Infiniti the additional power?

I'm not sure what the changes are but from what I have read the QX56 only makes 315 not 345....indeed this could be achieved very easily with some minor mods however it is interesting to note that the QX56 can actually tow less then the armada and the titan.  Edmunds make mention of the 5.6 being slightly modified but does not go into further detail...I'll keep looking and see what I can find

Further interesting things I did find is that both motors are the same displacement exactly and make the max power and torque at the exact same RPMs, still am yet to find what they did though

I would say the Q is suffering from carrying extra weight even before a tow.  As you said, the 10 additional HP would be easy to get however a bump to 345 has got to have something to it.  I was thinking these V8's are making 345hp in the M and FX and it would be great to know what the difference is.

well in the case of the FX and the M they both do not share the same 5.6 liter engine that the titan/armada/qx does and hence its a different motor.  As I said the QX shows only a 10 hp advantage over our truck

I'm thinking it's got more to do with the gearing on the Titans which is giving it the few less HP...Seeing the Titans are geared more for towing heavier loads..

Could the Infiniti have higher compression or the timing advanced a few degrees? - just a thought.

I believe the Infinty has variable valve timing....and that gets it to the 345 or so.....expensive....but gives you the preformance...
