First, let me say that I am a pretty big fan of Nissan products.  I owned an Infiniti Q45 that I drove like crazy and traded in on an Altima.  I found it to be underpowered for my taste and traded it in on a 350Z roadster that I just love.  Based on that experience, I bought the Titan SE crewcab with the Offroad package and various options.  This is where my troubles with Nissan began.

I wanted to be able to tow my 27' Jayco trailer which the gross weight is max at 7500.  I had it at about 6500.  I broke in the truck for the first 500 miles and put the trailer on the back and towed it 400 miles driving between 50 and 60 miles per hour.  I got home, and the rear end was whining at freeway speeds.  Sure enough, the rear end had burned out.   Once the dealer was able to find the part number (wierd story there), it was installed and my truck given back to me.  After about another week, I noticed an odd 'clunk' when coming to a stop and taking off.  I took it back to the dealer who acknowledged the problem and gave me another loaner while we tried to figure out how to get me a new truck.  I needed to break in the loaner to tow for the 4th of July and after towing it about 300 miles, you guessed it, the clunk was now in the loaner truck.  I told my dealer that this truck model isn't right for me and they thanked me for my patience and promised to make it right.  Well, they boned me, but that's another story.  I just traded it in on a Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins Turbo Diesel.

My $0.02 here is that if you are towing a couple of jetski's this should be a great truck.  But anything more than that and I'd have no faith in it whatsoever.

Other problems:  Poor radio reception, power windows did not work smoothly, power driver's seat did not work smoothly, CD player skipped over light roads.

On the positive, the truck has tons of power is very peppy and my wife liked to drive it.  Nice little features like the little cubby in the side of the bed and all the overhead compartments.

Overall, I'm probably done with Nissan.  Maybe I'll be back.  I love my Z, but there's some pretty scary stuff about them on other discussion groups.

Sorry to hear of your troubles and while I know they are frustrating obviously some on this board and others have had large success towing very large loads.  That isn't to say that mechanical things can't break.  On the other hand when you deal with a group or company that isn't willing to help you, it can quickly go from a mechanical problem to a problem far exceeding that (in this case your done with nissan).  If they had only lived up to their obligation you probably wouldn't feel this way.  In any event good luck and how do I know how you feel? I sued VW for reasons someting like this.  One other word of advice is if you read message boards long enough you start to realize they are all the same.  Many of them have good stories, product reviews and pictures, but some of them also have people that come to complain about problems also.  Its called shared experience.

I am also sorry to hear about your situation. Like JoeyCrack said many here have had huge success with the Titan in using it to tow large loads. There are always those few that have mechanical problems because face it, humans build them and humans are not perfect, not to mention that metal, plastic etc; can always have bad batches.

Well I could show you some great reviews on the towing listed below, but it appears you have made a decision already. It was wonderful that at least you gave them a second try. Good luck with you new truck.

Joeycrack & Titan,

Great answers!  I have worked at dealerships (service) and I couldn't have said it better myself.  No matter which manufacturer you are always going to get some with problems.  The people with problems always speak the loudest (rightfully so) about their issues, while the happy ones (95%) going on quietly enjoying there vehicle.

Austin Z dude- You did express you issues with class.  Most of the unhappy people I have had the experiance of dealing with are just plain stupid! and think that by going off (cursing & yelling) in the service drive will get you what you want.  It won't.  Calm and collective gets the most sympathy and help every time.

My $0.02 worth

I'm glad I didn't come off poorly.  I really tried to be open to just getting a bad one off the line.  When the second truck started to act up, I got scared.  Maybe it's something with the Offroad package?  Anyway, I've calmed down a bit and have to acknowledge the overall quality of Nissan/Infiniti products will probably bring me back.  Clearly my experience isn't the same as ANY of your other list members.  Oh well.  I do wish that the Dealer/Factory had looked at my longterm relationship with them and eaten more of the $4K I lost in the deal.  I even went to the same family of dealerships to purchase my Dodge out of courtesy.  I appreciate the professionalism of everyone on this list.  Best regards.
