Does the SE come with the console shifter? I don't like the shifter on the column and I was wondering how much I was going to have to spend to get the console Shifter?

Yes the SE does have the console shifter. To my knowledge, the XE is the only version with the column shifter.

It does if you get the power option with bucket seats.

Maybe a bit more complicated than above posts. My info suggests that the center console with floor shifter only comes with either of the two option packages _ Popularity #1 or #2 (RF stereo) that include Captain's Chairs. Even an SE without those options has the column shifter. Don't know if you can get the XE with either of the two option packages, but don't think so. If true, than can't get the XE with console shifter. Don't know about the LE, couldn't afford the sticker!

How about seat material? I looked at an SE over the weekend and it had some checkered looking seats that I didn't care for. Is there a different material or is leather the only other option? Do you have to buy the LE to get leather?

I think each version has their own fabric XE a more rugged fabric, SE a
more cooler fabric and LE leather, by the way I love this fabric seats,
nothing compare to the velour seats in Dodge, here in Texas they are
so hot and looks to old, but hey is a Dodge what else could you
expect.
Now I have a better truck than my dad, he has a Dodge but will get a
new 2005 Ford,

the "popular Package with Power Captain" (MSRP $1200) gives you the center console, and the XE does not have this option. Its only available on SE and up. Even some SE's don't have it.

The SE center console with Captains Chairs is the STANDARD, the bench seats are an a different option. Don't confuse the Standard Captains chairs with the Popular Package (differnet radio, and radio controls on the steering whel, etc.. $1000 increase on sticker). Argued with a salesman that said the Bench seats were standard and captains chairs with center console were optional. Told him to look in his little models book - he admitted he was wrong.
