In general, the blue coated bulbs are not going to give you more light. I personally went with Hella bulbs (http://catalog.com/susq/hella/bulbs.htm) and got the Optilux XP+. The website has a typo and says 65W, and it should be 55W, which is still an improvement over the stock 51W. It has a purple coating, but I don't get any of the colored cast that the blue bulbs have.
For the high beams, I'm using 100W clear bulbs. They're not Hella, but are equivalent. Some people will mention concerns about overheating wiring harnesses or reflectors, but since I only use high beams for very short periods of time, I don't see a problem with going with a much higher wattage bulb.
