Guys..Just wondering?
Does driving with the VDC on the whole time reduce fuel economy and if so, by how much? Just bought the vehicle and was wondering...

I don't have VDC and the mileage isn't great. I can't imagine it getting any worse.

I have driven several hundred miles with the VDC on and with it off. I have found no difference in mileage, it is horrible both ways. I traded a 2004 Ford F250 with a 6.0L Powerstroke for this gas guzzler. My Ford would get 19 mpg at 78 mph on the highway. This truck can't even spell 19 much less get 19. But, look at the bright side, ALL full size trucks get horrible mleage. The epa ratings for all look terrible. Where are you located CS???

I didnt think that the VDC really "did" anything unless it sensed tire slippage???? It must work tho, cuz I discovered I couldnt spin a tire until I took the VDC off....lol

To translate "VDC" into English. It is "Traction Control". I know that would be a very ignorant term to call the sophisticated "VDC", only the goofy American Car Manufacturers call it "Traction Control". That is how it was labeled on my Cobra, dumb Ford Engineers. Why on earth would they call it traction control????It prevents tire slippage, as in,,,,,lost traction, duhhhhhhhhh,,so why call it something dumb like traction control????Let's make it sound "racy", let's see,,,,it must have either speed or velocity in the name, that way everybody thinks it is a new invention....

I just want to clarify the systems use, not piss anyone off or offend them VDC is Vehicle Dynamic Control in Nissan speak. I have it on my other 2 Nissans 350Z and V35 Skyline Sedan. It is much more than traction control but it does use much of that system to get its job done or annoy you depending on your point of view. It is more akin to stability control, pumped through the brakes, as its goal is to keep the vehicle "under control" when it feels you have done something to kill yourself or it. If you know how to drive it can really be a fun killer. I wonder how many of you have gone mudding and left the VDC on, and felt taht the fun is gone? It should cut your power and apply the correct braking(per caliper) to stop "the unsafe" movement of the vehicle, remember this is what the computer map sees as unsafe. I am not a fan of VDC because there is no true off button. The system will spring to life in extreme situations. I have had this happen and it is very abrupt and unnerving as it is in the off position so what gives. I hope this gives you guys another view of what it can do. It can save your tail so its not all bad. Please keep in ind that I am not flaming anyone-I just happen to have a bunch of firsthand experience with VDC.

IQ9,
To take it one step further, it works with the direction of the steering wheel. If you lose control in a curve, for instance, it will apply brakes to specific wheels to keep you going in the direction that the steering wheel is pointed. Pretty high tech.
Just like the automatic pass. airbag. I thought it just a simple sensor! Not so, It is actually a blatter filled with fluid and when the correct amount of weight is applyed on the seat, the fluid is pushed to one side up against a pressure sensor that is connected to the pass. airbag. Bad news is you can't just replace the seat cover if you tear it. You need a whole new seat because the type of material will vary too much in elasticity and thus not work properly with the bladder.
Well, I thought it was interesing to say the least.

I have 4x4, off road, towing. I have a "tow mode" switch, but no VDC switch. Why is that?
Thanks

I think because you have rear locking differential.
