Its great when police departments request to see the box after an accident. This has happened is some cases and sparked a debate over way they are in our cars to begin with. The manufactures claim its to monitor the car but......it can be quite telling when the stored data is looked at over a period of time. I don't like it at all

All I can say is Whats going to be next... inject us with a monitering system at birth in order know when were naughty or nice? Sounds a little paranoid but ya never know. Cameras are everywhere, black boxes in our vehicles THE MAN probably knows how many times we use the restroom.
I even heard that some insurance companys have inquired about installing a black box inside your vehicle in order to "rate" your premium costs more accurately. Thats all fine and good if it would lower the ins. rate but I guess it all depends on who is going to analyze my driving... "well sir, ya didnt count to 3 at that rural stop sign out in the middle of no where... Cha Ching, thats going to cost ya". Personally they can stick the black box!

I read an article a year or so ago about a guy that rented a car and when he went to turn it back in, his bill had $100's in charges for speeding. They were able to determine that he had sped because the car was equipped with a GPS tracking device...He had no recourse but to pay the fines because they were noted in the fine print and charged to his CC.....With more and more cars being sold with OnStar type devices, its possible that one day we might all get tickets in the mail....lol
BTW..we can all be tracked by our cell phones aswell...if they wanted to.
Wal-mart is experimenting with RF tracking devices on their palletized shipments. Currently it is only used to track the shipments within their warehouses, but they want to eventually use the technology on the products themselves...all kinds of good reasons to do so they claim. But who wants someone to be able to tell what brand of TV they own just by drivng past their house, or what medications you have in your medicine cabinet???? The possiblities are quite scary.

There are insurance comapnies that are working with select customers that want a tracker put in thier cars to montor their movements and charge then according to the use of the vehicle. I highly doubt this will catch on. I will keep you posted if I haer differently.
