I don't think I'm being paranoid, but I've smelt a strong whiff of gasoline at least once a day for the past 4 days. It lasts about 5 seconds and then goes away. The first few times I thought it was other cars around me, but tonight was the fourth time in a row ... that's a lot of coincidences. Smells just like when I'm standing at the pump. Dumb question, but should I worry? Anyone else had a similar experience?

I've also got another rattle. This time it's more like a popping/knocking sound coming from the right-front wheel area. It almost sounds like when you squeeze Coke can and let it pop back out. I'm thinking it's the suspension, a loose rivot or hopefully the wheel well lining. Anyone have something that sounds like that?

Jason

Vector6 you mentioned a leveling kit? Where did you get it and who makes one?

The coke can noise you are hearing is where the body meets the frame underneath the floor board. Crawl under the vehicle and you will see a rubber bushing at this point with 3 bolts. Spray some WD-40 all over the bushing and it should go away.

Depending on what type of rubber it is, WD-40 might make it deteriorate. Some type of thick silicone spray or LPS 3 might work better and will definitely last longer.

That's not it.

I thought I had it figured out when I noticed that the wheel well lining was moving around because one of the pins had fallen out. I had that replaced today, but that didn't make it stop.

After I left the dealer today, I had someone else drive my truck while I rode in the passenger seat. It's coming from up high ... kind of in the glovebox area. I tried silicon spray on the door hinges and I took the glovebox out and looked behind there for something loose, but no luck I want to say it's the coil spring moving around, but I don't think that's it. I do think it's coming from some a metal/metal stress point though.

On top of that, my steering column starting making a knocking sound this evening. Does it everytime I turn the wheel. Not only can I hear it, but I can also feel it. Feels like one of the bearings has a bad spot on it.

I guess I can say I'm very frustrated at this point. I've only got 9500 miles on the thing and it already sounds 10 years old. I had a Frontier before this and it never came close to making this much dang noise.

I guess I will suck it up and take it to the dealer tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'll get the generic, "we couldn't duplicate the symptom" answer. I guess I'll see what happens.

Thanks anyways for the help.

Jason
