You are correct, only one transmission...5 speed auto....my guess is it simplifies production??? But I think the bench seat comes with a column shifter that features a manual mode.

yes simplifies production, and sends me to the Toyo lot.
I MUST have a clutch and a shifter. I enjoy driving too much.
Ive got 140K(HARD Original miles) on my Rodeo, I am hoping to get 200K, then I was gonna pull the trigger on a Titan. So hopefully the '06 will have a manual "option"
Jeeeez I knew this day would come.

Well Toyota makes a darn good truck...was my first choice until The Titan arrived on the scene....GL ..keep on truckin

At 53 years old, my clutch muscle finally gave out after rowing six gears in a Z-28 and 5 in an old Porsche, especially in Austin, Texas so I decided on an Automatic. IMHO manuals have more grunt and usually are the base tranny, so they save you money. If Nissan puts a 6 speed in these, especially with a short shifter in the center console, then it will really scream and will sell like hotcakes. As far as the Tundras go-they are a VERY nice truck, really appointed well inside and out, but I just didn't get the big truck feel. Felt more like a big car (which is what they are meant to feel like.) I wanted a big truck feeling and the Titan gave me that. And I guess the bottom line, for me at least, is I couldn't get one optioned like my Titan for the price I paid.

Another thing to consider Chili is that the Titan was designed with heavy towing capability as a priority and creature comforts a close second. Like someone else said, the Tundra is a nice truck, but don't have an expectation that it can hang with a Titan - manual or automatic transmission. That's not hype, just a fact. 
Me? I like having an auto. Especially when loading out my boat on a steep ramp that's slick. Maybe Chili you should try that clutch/brake/gas ballet you'd have to do with a manual tranny in order to get a boat out the water. You'd thank ged for an auto.
OTOH - since you're a Rodeo owner

thanks for the replies.
After thinking about, I might could handle an automatic if it had a big V8 behind it, I've just driven med-size trucks forever and with that V6 the manual is critical if you want to go anywhere.
I do tow a boat a lot. Granted its not a big heavy one, its an 18 Heavy Duty Jon with a big heavy motor, so I know what your talking about. I duck hunt so Icy boat ramps are part of the show.
Honestly I do not know if it is possible to have a truck as tuff as my Rodeo. I have driven the hell outta it for 141K, on my 3rd clutch, second brakes, and thats about all I've done. Curious you said OTOH, what did you mean? I'm not sure what everyone else's opinion on Rodeo's is.

i've heard a lot like you say. Mine's a '96, I hear that's the best year. Valves click like a tap dancer(common) but it still runs great, and is great offroad too.
