I do hear the crickets too I spoke to Nissan last week and they couldn't do much as I am seeing the dealer on friday for my next rotor turning. Yes kids, the 3rd brake "fix" doesn't work.

Its a known problem (someone posted a link to a TSB once).

My wife has the Armada and her's got really bad....after many calls and threats to return the vehicle they finally *fixed* it (not a real fix).  They just machine the rotors.  I read on one of these boards that in april of 05 a real fix is coming?!?!?!?

I wish the aftermarket would step up....I'd gladly buy a direct bolt on, heavier disk, vented rotor multi pot caliper brake system for both my Titan and the wife's Armada

HELLO!  AFTERMARKET!  GET ON IT!

Maybe the admin could add a section solely for the brakes?  Get Nissan to pay attention

Just a question but has any of the dealers mentioned a "caliper bracket kit" for the front brakes?  I was told that for my 1st fix. Or can I expect some more headaches coming????

I didn't look all that close at TSB 1 & TSB 2 but #2 included a new torque member. This is the carrier bracket for the caliper. In addition they added a new pin/bolt kit for caliper. Also added was the application of caliper grease (Molikote) for the pad seat surfaces.

In as far as the grease and hardware kit goes these are normally changed / used when you rebuild brakes anyway. The caliper bracket may have been suspected as as a possible cause of judder but as we've seen TSB'd brakes and the 05's continue to get judder in some trucks.

We already have a fairly large 2 piston calipers in front so I world guess that future mods would do something to the pads and rotors. Rotor diameter is somewhat limited due the the 17" wheels - they can go bigger but not by a lot. If the fix is supposed to be the same for 17 &18" wheels.

This topic is posted under several different forums. Just so you guy's know, I have had mine repaired 3 times and the vibration problem has once again returned. I have spoken with Nissan customer service and they claim to have new larger rotors being tested.  Supposedly, they should be hitting the dealer by March. After mentioning my states Lemon Law the customer service rep called my local dealer and he promptly called saying that if I wanted to I could and I quote... Be one of the "giunea pigs". Personally I am FED UP with the B.S., I paid almost 34k dollars for a top of the line vehicle and I refuse to be part of "Nissan Engineering 101". This problem should have been thought out from the beginning! Let me get this straight, I have a vehicle that can tow over 9000 lbs. yet it won't even stop itself. The Nissan customer service person even said that "we didn't expect the truck to be so powerful and we underestimated the brakes" Sorry for the rant guy's but I have never delt with this kind of stupidity from a company the size of Nissan. Hopefully I won't have to take this thing to the next level and Nissan will do the right thing. I'll keep everyone posted on my next encounter.

Hello all, New to this group, been lurking for a couple of months and monitoring this thread for a while. I don't recall anyone offering any rotor or brake bedding procedures and wonder if this has been addressed before assuming rotor warpage.

I'm coming out of a 2000 M5 which can develope very bad brake judder and rotors that feel like they are really warped. We are talking steering wheel vibrations so hard that you'd wonder if it was safe to even drive the vehicle. I was amazed at how bad they could feel but they would go back prefect after a series of bedding stops to remove excess and uneven brake pad material on the rotor. More importantly they would stay fixed for a long time.

Does the dealership do any type of new pad/rotor beding procedure? Do they do anything except change out the old parts? I am new to the full sized truck world. Perhaps this bedding stuff is only necessary in high performance sports cars/sedans but I doubt it. The vibrations would occur at relatively low speeds and wasn't too bad at high (80mph+) levels.

I bought my Titan last week 2005 crew LE 7 miles. I immediately left on and trip to LA. Been lurking around the local Nissan dealership just to get my titan fix.

I was told by my dealer that the "fix" is a 14 inch rotor but no time frame was given to them. They truned my rotors again and guess what.....the truck stops like it has drums-what a great feeling back to the 60s...WTF? She doesn't slow down unless you mash the pedal,so we'll see how long before we feel our friend "JUTTER" returns. Nissan has not been helpful in this issue at all. For those that don't know, it is rumored on other forums that this site is owned and operated by Nissan, so your complaints/suggestion should not go unheard. I also mentioned the lemon law and how it applies to safety issues and the customer service rep. didn't seem to give a crap-just another irrate Titan owner raging about the brakes and not getting a rental and the cost of going to the dealer and waiting. I brought up the fact that what I paid for the truck was not the true cost as at the time of purchase no one told me there would be saturdays that I would have to wait 3 to 6 hours for brakes, paint inspection and recalls to be preformed. It is oh so nice that Nissan feels the customer should only need a one way shuttle...back home and I pay for a cab to go back to pick up the truck.WTF.That is why I wait for the work to get done at the dealership.

 Nissan is known for its customer service or the lack there of and we benifit from that.

I know, according to the TSB on the brake problem that the Nissan techs are supposed to preform a type of break in on the new pads. Their instructions say to drive the  truck at slow speeds on a smooth surface, lightly braking and then to let them cool off again by not applying the brakes for a few minutes, then repeat. I'm not sure if this is known as "bedding" or not. I took mine into the Nissan dealer today (#4 and as of today thier fiinal attempt). I have had what I belive to be the WORST customer service I have ever had. Nissans Consumer Affairs Department has been a joke, and up to this point has offered no real solution to my problem. They have offered only the "cookie cutter" response... please reffer to your supplimentary owners manual. After reading the manual, it gives specific steps that must be taken to take Nissan into arbitration or that you must complete before bringing a law suit against them under your particular states lemon law. My question is... where does TAKING CARE OF THE CUSTOMER COME INTO THE EQUASION???!!! I have filed a complaint with the BBB National Auto line, they are actually supposed to contact the right people to try to settle the dispute or arrange for arbitration. Hopefully, Nissan will do the right thing and it won't come to that. Meanwhile, I am stuck driving a crappy rental car. Stay tuned...
