Have you installed this Yakima product onto the overhead racks?  If so, does the "universal" bracketry supplied offer a clean and secure attachment?  Are you able to vary the spacing of the overhead racks and still use the basket, or are you limited to a single location of placement?

I'm hoping to gain some insight from one with firsthand knowledge before I plunk down another 3 bills for an accessory that I have never seen.  The Nissan catalog  and indeed, Yakimas own web site,  provides rudimentary images at best.

Thanks for any help.

I too have the overhead rack and would like the basket. I have taken a look at the mounting system in pictures. Then I saw a basket on a demo model at a dealer. I think I would have to get the extention. It looked kinda dumpy being as short as it was. It looked secure keeping in mind that you are limited to 150lbs. Looks like the spacing can be moved but only in about 3" incriments. After looking at this I have decided to keep looking on the internet for other options. There are plenty out there. Mounting to the non stantard overhead rack that we have will still be difficult. We will still have to buy the mounting brackets from Nissan ($$$). Draw tie (I think thats the name) has one that look good and is long enough.

Thanks for the reply, sonnytimes.  You read my post regarding the toolbox/overhead rack situation that I had discovered.  I decided to keep the racks when the dealer offered me a hundred dollar credit at the parts counter if I didn't return them.  What I ended up doing was to reposition the toolbox where it belongs, and mounted the front loverhead reack behind it.  I think the 44" length of the basket would suffice for the use I have in mind......so based partly on your observations, I'm gonna order it.

Incidentally, after 3900 hundred miles on my 04 LE, I'm just now beginning to experience the symptoms associated with the anticipated brake problem.  I knew prior to making the purchase that it was inevitable....but expected a definitive fix to be available by now.

Otherwise, I don't have a single complaint of any problems so frequently addressed by others on this forum.

Once again, sonnytimes, thanks.
