Hello,

My new Titan XE 4X4 KC will arrive tomorrow night. They didn't have it on the lot Saturday when I signed so the sales manager gave me his Maxima (sweet car) for the rest of the weekend and is bringing my truck to my house. Great dealership- Key Nissan in Bluffton, SC. If any of you are looking in the area and want more details on them let me know.

Anyway, my question is on breaking in the truck. I want it to last as long as it should, so I know that certain things must be done and not done. What is the proper way to break it in? How long?

We are leaving for vacation on Wednesday morning and I REALLY want to drive the truck. Thanks.

Congrats!

On break in I think one of the most improtant things to remember is not to drive at sustained speeds for more than 60 sec.  You should very your speed 5 m.p.h. every min. for the first 1,500 miles, and oh yes, no wide open acceleration during that time!

Enjoy your new truck.

I'm sure the book states the proper break in procedure.  I am at 1100 miles and drooling for the odometer to hit 1200 (break in interval).

I agree, no sustained speeds, but I don't know about every 60 seconds.  When I am on the highway, I would set cruise for a few miles at 70, then 60, then 65, etc.  Kind of a pain, but when you spend bux like this, you want to make sure it is still around after the payments are finished. ;)

I paid cash. I took a 20% hit when I left the lot for buying new. Thats because I'm useing the best half of the truck's life. I intend to get my moneys worth. I still haven't toped it out though. Don't intend to. Had a sportbike once that I held pined for about 30 sec. Never did run quite as good after that. Did you head the break in advice when you test drove the truck? Do you think anyone esle did? Do you think Nissan want's a lot of trucks out there breaking down to give the line a bad rep. If the truck had to be broken in they would have a broken in demo. Taking a milage hit on one being better than warrenty work on hundreds. Don't hold a sustained speed for too long. IE put it on a flat grade and set cruise for 5 miles. Don't tow anything too heavy. & Don't go highschool on it for the first 1000 mi.  My opinion
