My XM subscription has ran out and I don't plan on renewing it (at least for now).  Has anyone taken the XM antennal off of their truck and is it possible to do so without damaging it?  I haven't looked too closely at it yet so I dont know exactly how it mounts.  I would think surely there is no hole in the glass for it.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I haven't removed the antenna or closely looked at it so I'm not 100% positive, but getting it off shouldn't be that difficult.  It more than likely mounts like a through-the-glass CB or cell phone antenna.  They mount with 2 sticky pads that transmit a signal through the glass without having a hole in the glass.  I have taken off cell phone antennas before with a good putty knife, razor blade and label/decal remover.  It might be difficult to get it off without marking up the plastic.  Then if you want to remount it, you'd have to get more glue and in my experience, it is difficult to get it to hold as good as when first mounted.  If you are even considering renewing your subscription, I'd just leave it alone till you are 100% sure you are getting rid of it.

I don't necessarily WANT to get rid of it.  I just have never found it very interesting.  There are only 2 or 3 channels that even appeal to me and even they arent constantly playing music that I want to hear.  I think XM needs to be an    On-Demand Service like cable has.  You pay for what type of music you want and then search for and play whatever you want to hear.

I agree with you in that there are few channels that I like.  Just like my satellite TV; sooooo many channels and only 5 that I watch regularly.  A friend of mine has a subscription with Siris and they seem to have more channels of the music I like even though they offer fewer channels.  My 3 month trial isn't up yet and not quite sure if I'm going to renew.  This is my first experience with sat radio in a vehicle I own and really like the idea behind the service, but don't like the offered channels through XM.  It may be a tough decision in a couple of months since my wife seems to really like it and it is already installed.
