I bought an 04 black XE crew cab 2wd. I like the vehicle in general but am very disapointed in several things. For example. Sticker and salesman said 14mpg to 19mpg.I'm getting no more than 13mpg.I dont drive it hard and take care of it very well. I pull a 27ft camper that the owners manual and salesman told me the truck would handle fine for what it weighed and the truck does handle it fine if you like to drive 45 to 50mph and get 6mpg. I'm ready to get out from under the thing and car dealers wont give me anymore than $15000 for it.AND IT ONLY HAS 15000 MILES!!!!!!!!. Is anyone in the same boat or have any suggestions on how to get rid of it.I owe about $24000.I need help!!!!!

24,000 man!!they sure did suck the blood out of you. i have the same truck and i got it for 18,800. done a refinance on the truck and the lending lady told me that my truck has a blue book of 22t. bring the truck back to the dealer and had them check the engine. im getting 15 on city(traffic) and around 17.5 on highways.

Sorry to hear of your problems....Id have to agree: If I paid $24K for an XE, I'd be pretty pissed too...... at myself. Sounds like you got ripped off IMO. I paid something like $23,900 for my SE with Big Tow. But that cant be changed, no need to fret over that now. I get about 13.5 city, 16.5 Hwy....but Ive never towed anything so I don't know how low that should get pulling a 27ft camper...If I'd had to guess I prolly would have said 6-10 mpg depending on the driving conditions...6 mpg definitely sucks, but I don't think a Ford or Chevy would be that much better (just my guess/opinion). As for the trade-in value, I don't want to know what they would offer for mine...Since I purchased this truck in July '04, gas has doubled in price....very few people are lookin at large trucks and SUVs, and the lots are full of them. My suggestions are to park the camper, accelerate slowly, keep the tach below 2K.

Not like my Titan? That would be blasphemy in this place! I have never had a vehicle that I look forward to driving everyday. I'm sorry to hear all of the problems that many seem to have with the first run of these trucks, my mine is an 04 and it runs like a champ, on steriods.

Sorry to hear your not happy with your "TIGHTAN". I fully expected a vehicle with such great power and solidity to be mediocre at best on gas mileage. However, the rewards this truck offers to its owners more than make up for the gas thing.
I love my truck and cant wait to drive it every morning.
Give the beast a chance!

I get about 8 mpg towing my camper. I think that is about par for the course unless you bite the bullet and get a diesel.
