Do you mean do we need to purchase an extended warranty? If I felt like I needed to buy an extended warranty for a product, I prolly wouldnt buy the product to begin with. I think Nissan's basic warranty is good enough..IMHO

You might be wondering "why you would buy a warranty in the first place", let alone one from Nissan which could be slightly higher then an aftermarket warranty.

The decisions to protect your investments are never easy. However, when it comes to protecting the investment you have in your vehicle there is no better way than a Warranty backed by Nissan. Making the decison to purchase a warranty ensures that Nissan will pay for expensive repairs and not you. According to ConsumerReports.org, if you want an extended warranty, ones offered by the auto manufacturer are typically better than those offered by third-party companies. With good reason. These warranties are specifically catered to the individual vehicles the auto manufacturer sells and services, making sure your components are covered each and every time.

The first question most people ask is,
"what if my car never breaks"?

According to ConsumerReports.org, "the average three year old car has 55 problems per 100 vehicles". Anyone that has every owned a car can attest to the possibility of a break down. Consider your car as a mechanical machine, this machine is prone to breaking down and should not be expected to be perfect.

It's also not very surprising that car repairs are expensive. The newer and more sophisticated cars are becoming increasingly more expensive to fix. The average cost to repair an air conditioning system for example is $825. Over the next five years repair costs are going to increase about 35%. So that $825 air conditioner repair today is going to cost about $1,150 to repair when it breaks in 5 years time. Considering this, one can expect just one visit to the repair shop to pay for the entire warranty!

========= Major Component Average Costs to Repair =========

Engine $2,560
Transmission $1,750
Brakes $1,100
OnBoard Computer $875
Air Conditioning System $825
Starter $325
Oil Pump $475
Radiator $380

Not only do you save money on repairs but many Nissan Warranties also include added benefits such as 24/7 roadside assistance, towing, car rental reimbursement, and travel interruption protection.

A much overlooked benefit of warranty coverage is a vehicle still under warranty has a much higher resale value. This is an additional added value that makes warranties financially more attractive. An extended warranty appreciates in value over time and mileage, therefore allowing you to possibly have a higher resale value on your vehicle. This is great plus when you finally decide to part with your vehicle.

can i buy extended warranty after the 3yr basic warranty expires? if so, how much would it cost. i believe extended warranty is useless when u still have the three yr warranty. when warranty expires then that's the time to buy not when u still have a warranty active. don't u think so?

Yes, however if you wait till after your warranty expires the cost increases and the available coverage options decrease.

No, I believe the Nissan Extended Warranty adds value even while you have your factory warranty active.

1. The Gold Preferred Warranty adds towing, trip reimbursement, roadside assistance, rental reimbursement.  Of course your factory warranty offers some of these however it is conditional upon the repair you are receiving.

2. Purchasing a warranty early ensures the lowest cost incurred by you.  Estimate how long you are going to own your vehicle, then purchase it based on that.

3. Purchasing a warranty increases the value of your vehicle.  When selling to a consumer your warranty is perceived as an added value to your vehicle.  When trading in your vehicle, you are able to cancel your warranty for a refund based on time and mileage remaining.  *Remember as your vehicle ages and acquires more mileage your warranty cost increases, therefore the perceived value of the warranty actually increase for resale to a consumer.  So while your vehicle is depreciating, your warranty is appreciating in value.  Nice huh!
