First off, cool forum. Just bought my 2006 Titan King Cab XE 2 weeks ago. What an awesome vehicle! I hang paper and have always worked out of smaller trucks, like the GMC Sonoma for example, and this big Dawg is unbelievable. Love the power, space, and the V8 sound. Since Nissan was offering a huge chunk of $$ back on in stock vehicles I ended up with an XE king cab 4x4. I'm not a fan of all the power nicetey's and I wanted a bench front seat so the XE suited me fine. But, no chrome grille, no strip siding, pretty bare bones on the wheels also. I figured I'd slowly customize it to my liking. Does anyone know if it's possible to go aftermarket on the strip siding, if that's the proper term? Also, I'd like to get a chrome grille, and have found a big assortment and varying quality available.
Secondly, I'd like to make some minor modifications to improve the performance and or fuel economy. It may be obvious by now, but I'm not a knowledgable car guy. Aftermarket air filter seems a likely place to start. Anything else that wont hurt the warranty and jeopardize reliability? Thanks in advance Jeff

Congratulations on your new purchase, and welcome to the forums!! These trucks are great. I myself am a big guy (6'5" tall 310lbs), and this is the first truck that I've felt comfy in. Plenty of leg & head room. And the interior is laid out well. Well I would start with a CAI (Cold Air Intake) they are a little pricey, but I've heard that with the addition of a CAI and an exhaust set-up there have been some gains on fuel economy & performance.
I myself have the K&N drop-in air filter and the Flowmaster 40 series exhaust, I haven't noticed all that much of a fuel economy increase, more like a decrease cause I can't keep my foot out of it.
I'm not much of a modder. As far as the Body Moldings, I don't know it there are any other choices out there other than taking them off. As for the grills, If I had a $100 for every grill that is out there, Well I'd have a little pocket change. I like the look of the stock grill so I think that I will keep mine the way it is. It's all a matter of personal preference. Get something that you will be happy with.
About the only other thing that I would like to do to mine would be to tint the driver's and passenger's side windows. Then I would be finished. By the way which color did you end up getting? I've liked that blue color ever since they released it.

Thanks for the reply bigbear (6'5", 310, you are a bear!).I got the smoke gray color, which was about my only choice from the in stock models but I like it fine. I'd gone on the Nissan website and browsed a number of times, also building a number of trucks. Smoke was one color I kept going back to. I actually like the look of the factory grille but mine's not chrome. I guess I could wait around for one to turn up on ebay. I bought some SE 18" wheels on ebay, just need to get 18" tires now. That ain't no cheap endeavor either, as 18" tires for a 4x4 are over $200 each. Then there's the question of what to do with the tire pressure warning valves. Do I pay to get them changed over or go without. All this tech stuff is why I wanted a bare bones XE, plus the SE doesn't have a bench seat in front. By the time I buy all this extra stuff I will be into an LE! LOL! Ah well, it's fun to get it like I want it I guess. As for fuel economy, let me just say that after the first fill up, and seeing how far a full tank took me, I started sobbing like a little girl! Sheeit, I'm gonna need to get another job to pay for the gas! I'm with you, though, can't keep my foot light on the throttle 'cause i like that sound and the acceleration. I'm a happy guy, glad I didn't wait for the 07 Tundra to come out.
