I was reading with interest the post regarding other truck owners bad-mouthing the Titan. I chalk that up completely to jealousy.

Chevy owners have no room to talk. I have owned a lot of GM products over the years and, with the exception of a mid-90's Buick LeSabre, they have all been royal pieces of crap. Here's just a sample:

84 GMC S-15: Can't even begin to count the problems on this POS, but would begin with the $1,000 in carb work, $1500 in tranny work and a $1500 rebuilt engine all under 100k.

95 S-10: Transmission (manual) was falling out of the thing at 40k miles. "Clutch wind-down time" TSB stated that it was normal to have to keep the clutch depressed at least 15 seconds before going from reverse to first. When I traded this lemon in the "wind-down time" was over a minute. It was very embarrassing trying to leave shopping center parking lots if I couldn't pull out head first.

97 Chevy Lumina: Transmission literally blew apart on this thing at 57k miles. Rebuilt tranny was going out 20K miles later before this car was mercifully wrecked and paid for by Allstate.

97 Chevy Venture: Head gasket blew out on the side of the interstate away from home, costing me $1400 to fix. Less than a year later a few consecutive teeth all broke off the flywheel, costing another $600 to replace. Transmission was starting to shift really hard when I traded this clunker in as partial payment on my Titan.

Bottom line is I've owned 3 Nissan trucks from brand-new (including this Titan) and they have all been world-class in quality. I have owned more cars in my life than I would like to count and besides Nissan, only Toyota and Honda have proven excellent quality. Fords have been OK, and Chrysler and GM have been total junk.

Please give us the unbiased feedback i am sure most of the TITAN owners are looking for, that is if our trucks can stand up the Chevy's and Fords out there, Performance is one thing, durability is another different animal. I am very curious if my truck is as good as the chevs and fords.

Good points, not only the Big-3 will have to up the Ante, Toyota and now Honda(!) are jumping on the bandwagon also! Look what we (nissan) started!

How does the Titan compare to chevy and Ford for gas mileage?

I have been to the Nissan dealership, and driven the Titan, but I don't think I will be buying one simply because of the gas mileage thing. I love the truck but I am not going to sacrifice that for the terrible mileage.
