I apologize if this thread has been discussed before but here goes: I have the OEM radio with 6 CD changer. Plan: add a power amp to run a custom Sub box under the rear seat.  I know I can tap signal at line level (speaker level) which I don't want to do. Before I start looking for something that doesn't exist, Question: does my radio have a pre-amp output? Thanks for the input. Check my Titan at www.usantonio.com/titan4x4link.htm PEACE

I'm pretty sure it doesnt have pre-amp outputs...not positive, but almost certain. But why isnt speaker level ok for a sub? I think most amps accept line level inputs dont they?

It's OK but....

When you amplify speaker level signals, you are also amplifying the "quality" of the OEM signal being produced by the OEM radio. Thereby, if the signal is poor or distorted, then you are amplifying the same distortion or poor signal. Example: If the output starts distorting at 3/5 up the volume dial, then the amp will reproduce the same distortion proportionate to the volume or capacity of the amp.

If the signal is pre-amp, even if the radio starts distorting at 3/5 up the volume dial, the signal going to tha amp is still pure and undistorted.

Just a "purists" way of doing it right. PEACE

Thanks for the info
