Can anyone tell me if any of the factory systems are able to play MPS and or WMA formats?

To my best knowledge, none of the factory systems can play mp3 or wma formats.
Please correct me if anyone knows different.
Mine does have an AUX input for an mp3 player or other aux device.

My truck has an auxilary input as well and it works great. I highly recommend it if you don't want to go buy a new head unit.
You just need to buy a stereo audio cord ($4 at Radio Shack) with two small male ends ... like on headphones. Then you can plug in a laptop, DVD player, MP3 player or whatever else you can think of
Pretty cool!

IQ9*,
Yes, the AUX was good thinking... but in my humble opinion (IMHO?) I think that ALL the car manufacturers are behind the 8 ball in the audio department... that is when it comes to file fomats on CD... heck, even my $69 boom box plays MP3's. I have to say I'm really dissapointed that none of the MFG's are hip to the MP3 gig... and I'm dissapointed that my Rockford Fosgate system does not play MP3's... how much extra did I pay for that system?
I am toying with the idea of a full blown mini computer and dash mounted monitor (where the stock Nav screen goes). A buddy of mine built a prototype mini computer and it has so much potential! My plan would be to be able to have a GPS nav system, play ANY audio, DVD, CD anything... and be able to add periphrials (sp?) such as a back up camera... maybe even run the software for engine management mods... a pipe dream I know but what the heck...
For now I will go get a cheapie MP3 player and plug in into the AUX... thank Nissan for at least that!

I have to agree with CactiusJackSlade...all the vehicles I have seen up
close or owned have boasted a great stereo, but when you start closely
investigating, the stereo quality is less than "hyped".
When I see "Rockford Fosgate" as an advertised option with 10 speakers,
including a subwoofer, I expected to be "bumpin'" down the road.
My RF system does sound very good and punchy, but the sub has already
blown once (the dealer replaced it) and I only have the system turned
up to about 11 or 12 max. I also learned from someone else on
this forum, the speakers (or at least some of them, are
paper). I would expect I could really crank up a 350 watt
system and not have to worry about easily blowing speakers.
Anyway, I bought an iRiver HP-140 to plug in to the AUX jack and play
MP3's. I just bought the player and haven't hooked it to the
truck just yet, but I will let you all know how it sounds.

I'm just finishing re-tagging all of my current 900 mp3's. I've
been working on them for over a week and am on the "M's" today. I
hope to finish them very soon, then let you know

Tried out my iRiver HP-140 today in the truck. It sounds pretty
good using the AUX input. Not as good as the CD's do, but better
than mediocre. I had to turn the volume up considerably more
using AUX, than when listening to CD's. I normally listen to CD's
at 10 but had to have it to 18 to get about the same volume out of the
AUX input. Setting the volume to 18 was after turning the iRiver
up almost full blast.
I can say this: I'm not disappointed. I'd rather have the
AUX jack than have to use something like a tape or CD adapter to run an
external source.

By the way, I swithed from using the Headphone Out on my iRiver to the
Line Out and it made a HUGE difference. Sounded way better
through the AUX input now.
It also appears MP3's recorded at 192Kbs sound much better than
anything lower. The difference in sound quality between a 128Kbs
MP3 and a 192Kbs MP3 is quite significant.
