would you buy the Titan if it's main use was for towing?

I've been lurking here b/c we've test driven a '05 LE Crew and really like the truck.  Our main usage will be towing our 21' MasterCraft.  Total combined weight (boat/trailer) of about 5000lbs.  I've become pretty concerned with what I see are 2 major issues (for those who tow)...brakes (shudder) and rear differential.

The other vehicle we've been looking at is the '05 F150.

So, knowing how I plan to use the truck and your experiences with your Titan, would you buy the Titan all over again?

Thanks, in advance, for the honest replies.

Paul

Yes, and I'd get the same truck with the same options!

Mine is a 04 LE, 2wd with the big tow package.  It pulls my 8500lb 30ft travel trailer with ease!  See my pics in the gallery...

I'm always debating: should I've got the 4wd? I look at it like this: I don't tend to ever use my truck in any other way except what I bought it for, a vehicle for transportation. I'll never, nor have ever, gone anywhere that would require me to use 4wd. But if the cost was right, I would've gone with 4wd.

Yes, I have had nothing but good experiences with this truck. The brake jutter that I experienced was little more that a minor nuisance (at 25000 miles). Only had problem fixed at the dealer because it was free. Even with that minor jutter I towed a flatbed trailer with a Dodge D50 (sorry don't know the weight) accross the Sierras (4000' to 7000' to 5000') without trailer brakes. As for the differential, it's my understanding that the '05 has a larger capacity aluminum cover and synthetic gear oil. Regardless, I have yet to have any problems with my differential.

At heart I'm a Ford guy so I can't fault you on your second choice, but if I had the choice to buy another truck it would be a Titan.

If the criteria were towing alone the answer would likely be yes. For any other reason I'd have to say no. Nearly a year later I can say with a firm grip that I'd wished I'd gotten another Ford (maybe an F250 this time)
