Just thought I'd post this in case anybody else ran into this
problem. About 1000miles in my King cab 4x4 started making a
"clunk" noise when you'd start, stop or go over rough roads. Only
notice it at low speeds. But it got progressively worse over a 2 week
span. I took it in on a Friday and told them to check the motor
and tranny mounts. They called said it was all done and had a
loose heat shield on the fuel tank which they tightned. Didn't
sound right so when I picked it up I got it in right in front of the
serivce door, gave it some gas and it made the same sound as
before. I grabbed the service guy, told him to get in and took
for a ride around the car lot. Needless to say he felt like an
idiot because they obviously never drove it before or after the
"repair". So they gave me one of those little cracker-jack
nissan's and told me they'd call back when they figured it out.
So they called an hour later (4pm on Friday) and told me the
transmission mount was loose. I reminded him that was what I
asked him to check in the first place. He then told me they were
going to keep it all weekend so they could put a new mount on it Monday
or Tuesday and I could keep the loaner. NOT! I told him to
put a wrench on it and I'd be their in 15minutes to pick it up.
If they wanted to put a new mount they could do it next week when I
didn't need it. So it was fine after that. I found it
strange that they wanted to put a new mount on it until I realized they
couldn't right off warranty work unless they replaced something.
Don't take this as a slam on the dealer. They've been great and
usually go out of their way for us. I think the service guy was
just trying to go home early on a Friday afternoon. Point being
if you hear a weird clank, check those mounts!
(And the service guy said he'd never heard of a loose tranmission mount
on a new car. This was my second car that's had the same problem,
it was a VW)

I just picked mine up on the 16th. Took a trip to Phoenix and experienced the exact same symptoms. I had just put some side steps on before I left, and I though maybe I hadn't gotten the bolts tight enough. Crawled underneath and what do I see, two transmission mount bolts, lookin' at me. One was completely out (only held in place by the skid plate) and the other was half way out. Tightened them up and the problem went away.
Pretty sh*tty on a brand new truck though. I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but truck doesn't shif t quite right anymore.

I seen to have the same problem. During turning start and stop and larger impact bumps, somthing seems loose. I can hear a "pop" and feel it under my feet on the drivers side.
I took it ot the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I took the service guy for a ride but it didn't do it with him in the vehicle? I didn't notice a problem until around 400 miles.
Has any one else has this rpblem

My engine mounts on the left side were loose from the factory. On one of the many trips back to the dealer I asked them to check all the main bolts under the truck. They did and found several loose. After I got it home I checked and the did check alot fo bolts because the new skuff marks an the bolts. I checked the rear part of the truck and found some loose parts including the shocks. Must have been made at the end of a shift.

With the loose engine mount how much nosie did you have? I have nosie / clank that you can feel on the driver side feet. It doesn't happen all the time, normally only with large bumps less than 40 mph. Also during acceleration while turing.
The first dealer visit found loose pinch bolts on the ball joints (safety critical), but didn't find anything and it didn't fix the problem. It's going back to the dealer for another go around. This time I'll use some of the information found in this forum.
Any other suggestions would be helpful thanks

All this talk about bolts had me under my truck this morning. While I didn't have a loose trans mount bolt it was only because one of the bolts was missing. After some looking in the bolt bins I found an M10 and put one in....
On the other hand; off the running board bolts four were loose, one half way in cross threaded and one tight. Managed to get the bastard out and chase it with a tap and rebolt that one too.
The good news is that the suspension bolts and motor mounts appear tight.

I crawled under my truck to try and find the problem myself, and to no surpise I found two loose bolts that fasten the transmission to the frame. Problems so far.
1. Loose pinch bolts, ball joints
2. Loose transmission mount bolts
3. Loose bed tie down bolts
I'm taking it to the dealer todaqy for them to check every bolts on the things. I bought the truck thinking Japanese quality, however I'm getting typical american craftmenship!!!!!! I never had these types of problems on the 5 GM trucks I've owned!!!!

Does anyone have a loose tailgate mount on the left side. While riding over large bumprs you can hear it slamming. With the tailgate closed lift up on the lower left corner, does it move up and down like mine? It's getting worse with more miles.
I just went to the dealers and checked 10 trucks on the lot, 8 out of 10 had the same problem. Ones with the factory spray on liner did not do it as bad. Clearly this is a defect as I'm sure Nissan would not puposely make this crappy mount. I wonder if the 04 model was better.
